You can get a surprising amount of stones just running around gather small ones in my experience. Dense stones are also less expensive than solid stones for some reason and 1 stack was only around 1.2 to 1.4 gold recently.

I have not seen a single small thorium vein since the update, i'm actually convinced that the overall spawn rate is bugged and none are spawning at a regular rate. i've talked to other people and they say the same thing, have seen ANY thorium around the world
