Palas have 3 categories.
Healers were finely balanced earlier and are finely balanced now. They need gear to start things going for them but once they get it they are the best spot heralers in the game.
DPS needed some help. It was arguably below vanilla enh shaman which by itself deserves a reward. After the changes they are still not optimal at PVE but they are broken in PVP. Thing is that they are hard to kill and can burst you down. But at raid when bosses have 1000000+ HP maintained damage + threat management are more important and they fall short there.
Tank palas needed love, got some love but would need some more of it. Now they are okay choices up until a raid level and can be good OT even after then. But they are still lacking a bit.

Paladins fulfill three primary roles.
Healers were well-balanced previously and remain so. They require solid equipment to perform effectively, but once equipped, they excel at maintaining the health of all players in the game.
DPS Paladins required enhancements. They didn't match up to vanilla enhancement shamans, a significant comparison. Despite adjustments, they still don't excel in PvE content, but they wield significant power in PvP scenarios, being resilient and inflicting high damage quickly. However, in raids with bosses boasting immense health pools, consistent damage output and threat management take precedence, areas where they struggle.
Tank Paladins needed attention, received some, yet could benefit from more. They suffice for most tasks, including raids, and can serve adequately as secondary tanks. However, further adjustments are necessary for them to truly excel.

Call it whatever you want. I see the same in the battlefields.
No class should be able to do this, while having those defensive capabilities.

By defensive capabilities do you mean become immune for 12 sec every 5 mins and have 50% reduced DMG ?

The rogue was critting 700 on plate, reckoning works that he gets an extra attack when he gets crit, he got crit 4 times, thats 4 instant attacks with a 2 hander, think of it as double windfury proc. But that got removed on turtle wow.

The paladin wasnt even able to move without Bubble, I dont understand what you expect.

Elmhoof - 60 Feral, between tanking/dps (Main)
Anbone 34 Shadow Priest (Planned secondary main)
Manypunchman - 10 Naked Troll Boxer (Hardcore)

I'm back! More or less...
