Every now and then, https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=738/private-thorsen leaves the Rebel Camp, saying "Time for my patrol, I'll be back shortly."
He departs from the Camp and walks down the road into STV. He walks a short distance away from the road towards the Kurzen Compound, and then walks back.
However, when he stops a short way from the road, he should be met by two Kurzen Agents. He should ask to rejoin Kurzen, but the Agents should refuse and attack him. At this point the players are supposed to save his life, thus starting the quest https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=215/jungle-secrets
When this questline is finished, and we uncover the spy https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=1421/private-merle with the quest of https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=331/report-to-doren, Private Merle should try to escape from the Rebel Camp. He is either killed in the camp, or, if he escapes, run into Duskwood, where he is killed by two ghouls.
