Social Media & Copyright Strikes

Post by Torta » Thu Sep 01, 2022 8:05 am

Dear players, you might have noticed that our YouTube channel no longer exists. Even though our channel wasn't monetized, it's been deleted after receiving several copyright strikes issued by a small indie company that is very jealous of our lovely community.

We haven't been given a timeframe to appeal a single strike: it all happened instantly. Of course, the trailers and our content videos haven't been entirely lost, we're looking into our options to preserve them online to share on other platforms.

We always treated the creators respectfully and advertised ourselves as a modding team, not a "free-wow". It's sad to get our content wiped out like that from YouTube. They inspired so many people to become developers, musicians, 3D artists, or writers, and many used to believe it is worth a lot more than a few lost subs...

Losing our channel is just a bump on the road, however, we're extremely upset to lose all of your feedback and compliments expressed in countless positive comments each time we were to publish a new soundtrack or a dungeon teaser!

Our other social media accounts have received copyright strikes as well but weren't entirely taken down luckily. We're looking into options to keep all communications in-house in the future.

Taking into consideration a new trend of private server's social media being shut down by certain corporates, we're humbly asking you to post your artworks, guild advertisements, or any other relevant information from Discord, on our forums as well. Here it'll be safe!

We're also working on securing our main server infrastructure by setting up additional off-site backups and data replication to prevent any losses of your progress in case of any unexpected circumstances.

We know because of the recent population growth gameplay hasn't been as smooth as before recently, so in the upcoming weeks, Turtle WoW will receive a major hardware upgrade to support the growing number of players.

Thank you for choosing Turtle WoW.

Have you considered rutube? If not then I've heard streamable is fairly complicated for corporations to get videos removed from

Alternatively you can just create a telegram channel. Sure it's not very user friendly to link videos to a specific channel, but as a plus I've never heard of Durov ever deleting a video from a telegram channel owning to a copyright strike .

Blizzard lost love and respect for their own work years ago, they deserve nothing but contempt for betraying true game lovers, and you have more right to do what you want with the world that Blizzard destroyed.

Dear players! If you have any important information, contacts, screenshots or guild recruitment announcements posted in our Discord channel, please save them immediately and re-post on our forums. We keep receiving copyright strikes on our remaining social media (Twitter, Patreon, Instagram, FB, and now, even on Discord) and are expecting that we might lose our Discord server soon.

The lost trailers and soundtracks will soon be published on our website, free for download and re-distribution.

There's no need to worry about accounts and character's data, we have off-site backups, stored at multiple locations. We would be back online within a short amount of time, even if our main server is taken down.

Always yours, Turtle WoW Team.

In fact, I have been following your YouTube channel for a very long time. And I am very sorry that your channel was so unfairly closed. I think you should try to appeal this decision. It would be cool if you created an Instagram account and shot videos in reels there. This would greatly help your account grow and gain followers. Also, to regain your former popularity, you can use the services of the Famoid website and buy some subscribers. My friend did this, which helped her get her followers back. So I hope to be able to watch your videos soon on Instagram.

Although the official Turtle Wow social media accounts have been closed, I still see many content creators creating content for Turtle Wow. One of the most popular type of video content for vanilla wow used to be the PVP videos, but the current situation of the class imbalances have slowly driven away pvpers and therefore you just don't see many creators for it as well. I think it would be healthy for the server to address some of the more serious imbalance issues, ie. Paladins beings over buffed, or introduce solutions that don't directly change classes but even out the playing field of battle ground match making like Cross Faction BGs, in order to bring back some of those pvp centric players that is able to promote the server further with their pvp video contents. Just some thoughts on the matter, would love to see more opinion and discussions on the topic.

It's really unfortunate to hear that your YouTube channel got deleted due to those strikes. Losing all those positive comments and feedback must be disheartening.
