I want to play an undead paladin.

Post by Mimmy » Mon Sep 05, 2022 7:02 pm

This is my dream, to play an undead paladin, I need this, someone, please. I can't get into a character if it's not undead, but I like playing paladin. All I can do is play undead priests and unodead warriors... Just smash them together please...

Even if they wanted to add them, they can't. The maximum amount of classes that a race can have is hard-coded in the system to six, and with undead hunters they've reached that cap.
Characters:
Coilspring - 60 gnome hunter
Megwynn - 60 human rogue

Suggestions:
Pyrewood Village Suggestions
Hunter Epic Ammo Pouch Suggestion

Maybe you can play a High elf, and buy the Dark ranger skin

Yep. There's also the death knight skins for humans and dwarves if you want to roleplay as an undead paladin. That said, I'd also like to see forsaken paladins.

Not commenting on the topic but what you said is not true at all. It is not hardcoded into the game, this is a talking point I see constantly and it drives me nuts. The character creation screen UI is not hardcoded, nor is there some "cap" on race class combos. EVEN IF what you are saying was completely true, anyone with a basic knowledge of WoW modding could create a second lets say "Undead race." selection that only has the paladin class available as a work around. Either way, it is possible to go over 6, modders have done it before. IDC if people don't like undead paladins I could care less, but please stop using this as an argument against race class combos cause its straight up false.

True! However, you could create the opportunity through skins.

Lore-wise, the Forsaken wielding the Holy Light feel mental anguish, their mind adapted to their state, but now they become more conscious of what has happened to them, they internalise their situation and stop dissociating/being numb and escaping reality focusing on negative emotions projected outwards like hatred; they become more self aware of the bad things happening to their bodies, they feel the physical pain of the decay.
An undead using holy light causes anguish.
This should be expressed somehow in the game, at least with a symbolic debuff when using holy light spells, nothing too balance-changing of course.
The Forsaken can be holy/disc priests, and there is a Paladin NPC in bulwark.
So lore-wise there could be Forsaken Paladins, but only with adequate racials and/or slight undead-specific class changes.
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Goblin priest? Even less than undead paladin, tauren rogue and gnome druid combined.
What do you mean... I even thought the racial spells:

There is no free healthcare : Debuff to be cast on the enemy. Healing spells casted by the target drain their HP by an X% of the healed amount.

Absolutely real truth preacher : Debuff to be cast on the enemy. Increases the duration of your mind control or fear effects by X seconds.

Goblin priests would make for a ton of fun roleplay turtle_tongue

Goblin priests could be like those televangelist preachers getting rich off church donations. Kind of surprised how many people balk at the thought of a goblin priest when religion is so often abused by con artists to scam people.

Because Priests in wow summon real holy power to perfom real miracles.

Con artist = rogue
Faith in the light = priest or paladin
Con artists are not confined to one singular WoW class, and not all Rogues are con artists. Any WoW class could scam people.

And when priests can summon real holy power to perform real miracles, faith in the Light isn't far-fetched for anyone. In fact, it's kind of silly to say a goblin could never "believe in the holy light" when literal miracles are being performed right before their very eyes.

But furthermore, not every priest in the game follows the Holy Light. Troll and Night Elf priests certainly don't.

Okay, great, but trolls are priests, and goblins should be priests, too.

The gnome holdout medics in Gnomeregan cast the priest spells heal, renew, and power word: fortitude. So yeah, playable gnome priests, too, please.

Well indeed it is not ideal, but introducing a "Witch doctor class" to replace Troll priests, or "Medic" classes to give a healing option for gnomes and goblins is harder than just giving them a priest class and RP as something else.
