Sands of Time suggestions: let your voice be heard!

As you know we have started a series of updates called Sands of Time where we plan to bring back to life cut content from the original game. The first one has been the revival of "Disguise", a rogue skill (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=295).

Even if we have a lot of things in mind, we also want to know what cut content would you like to see implemented in Turtle WoW.

This is the place where you can ask for that thing you always wanted to try! turtle_tongue

I have a guess that everything would be trippin' over server possibilities, I mean if server will have such options to make these changes actually work and to lessen the burden I'd like to suggest you make a list of things you can actually implement and let the population decide which things would work out well and wouldn't endanger our loved Turtle Server to suffer from consequences of these changes implemented.

For example if you apply changes to one class only and leave other classes blizzlike with no balance or sufficient alternative skills or similar stuff then there might be a situation where only one that class would be overpopulated and might tip the scales even further into the depths of disbalance and awry.

I know it's a long shot, but here goes nothing.

Apparently goblins were supposed to be a playable race back in vanilla to counterpart gnomes. You wouldn't have to import cata models, as in vanilla their models are already fully customizable, male and female. They can wear clothing, have all their own unique emotes, etc. However, adding them would tip the balance as one faction would have less races than the other. Maybe a pandaren-esque compromise with the player choosing what faction hed join would even it out. Adding goblins would definitely make the server unique without sacrificing the classic integrity of the server.

I personally would volunteer to help integrate them into the game. Whether its building a new starting zone, writing quests, etc.

This would rocketlaunch the server to the heights beyond our imagination!
Best suggestion imo...

Especially if, Kazgrim, can help over it's realization... would be OSOM!

I hate goblins and will never play them... I just want whats best for realm and this is probably most unique feature we could possible have... if there is ANY chance to make it happen - DO IT!!

Also to add that I'd halt the progression with that disguise thing and such stuff...
It's double edge sword. Potential negatives:
- everyone rolling rogue to see what's the fuss about
- others that are not rogues feel left out

I support the concept BUT:
- develop some unique feature to each class
- release it when you got everyone covered
- profit

It would be like... ummmm... what I was about to say.... ummm oh yea...

EXPANSION PACK!

1st expansion:
Goblin race with that pandaren alike sheet to pick faction.

2nd expansion:
Class skill update

3rd expansion:
Adding roasted cabbage to cooking recipe list and what not... turtle_tongue_head

Overall, if we are taking this way with server I see no limits and it can only profit us if we are gonna stay moderate and not overuse it and fill realm with useless, pointless sheetz which basically ruin gameplay and immersion.

So far i'm totally up for this, but I'd like to keep it in some logical limits. None wants to play 0.5 rates fkn Heroes WoW server dead_turtle_head

So, which another race will you suggest to either remove from Horde faction or add to Alliance?

Since, you know, no one will like that someone got better than them or uneven sport to begin with, right?

There's no way to add Pandarens without client modifications. Their models aren't in the client yet!

So after a bit of searching what I have found was that there were talks of player housing, as well as a first aid item call Powerful Smelling Salts. There was a list of new zones that got the ax including Hellfire Peninsula, Quel'thalas, Karazhan, and Gilneas! So. Many. Choices!

Thing is to add JUST A SINGLE RACE (Goblins) with a pandaren ALIKE faction choice.

You make goblin and you pick a faction which you wanna side with...

Blizzard even considered making goblins a neutral race, neither horde nor alliance.

Some ideas about goblins:

Upon creation, they spawn in one of the goblin towns, with a portal leading to one of the standard starting zones. Alternatively, maybe the goblin could start at level 10 and just start in Ratchet.

Their racial mount could be a turtle.

Playable classes:
Warrior, rogue, mage, warlock, priest


Racials:
Tinkering: +15 skill bonus to engineering or Chemist: +15 skill bonus to alchemy
Cunning: Increase agility by 5%
Time's Money: 5% more coins drop from mobs
BOOM!: Cause massive aoe damage in an area, but at the cost of your own life

Add JUST A SINGLE RACE to game means recreating or editing too many items, models and animations for not JUST A SINGLE RACE but to an entire huge chunk of data and alike not to mention a background sewed with OTHER RACES as well, otherwise it'd be just a pretty amature patching for the sake of patching, pure nonsense. angry_turtle_head

Yo, dawg, I heard you like a faction withing a faction so we made ya a bike so you cycle while on a bike. turtle_tongue

For now we have a clearly almost balance between factions due to OP Blessing of Kings buff and Cleanse from paladins and so-so but still OP Grounding Totem and Tremor Totem from shamans. So there is some sort of a balance to that. Adding another race with a choice for faction would make a huge disbalance, also goblin's animations are far from "almost nearly done" stage as you could see from a post above. Just compare it with other races at least!

What I'm suggesting is you don't walk over these rakes all over again and set your thoughts on improving Classic content without trying to invent a bike again. You want another race added since you got bored with Classic ones? This must be not the content you like then, eh? Why don't you just furl away to some Pandamonuim content, eh? angry_turtle

Point is you better be working on roleplaying part for existing races since you have the fire within you for such a thing, instead of inventing a bike and suggest some huge disbalance which would clearly make out of Turtle WoW one of these "ohhh-look-how-cool-this-server-is-with-all-the-shiny-stuff-they-shove-in" silly servers for kids with no balance in mind but the shiny stuff and epixx, zomfg, so cool... dead_turtle_head

Please remember the motto of the server - "It's better to quest and die than never to have quested at all."
And the video it had most of us lured into it, CLASSIC server with CLASSIC races and CLASSIC quests. smiling_turtle

Sure thing, Grand Turtles give us a great opportunity to suggest things which would IMPROVE CLASSIC WoW they have on their hands with RP in mind and PvE content as a main goal, so focus on that. satisfied_turtle_head

An example might be a quest with escorting Gilthares Firebough in quest "Free From the Hold". Gilthares might be boring with his idle ramblings along the way and perhaps ain't that much sneaky as should be logicaly, but the RP is there and it's working perfectly. That's what you be better suggesting to some NPCs all over the existing CLASSIC world we all love and hold dear to. No need to tread on a rake again. angry_turtle

I don't see the issue of having a neutral race in the game. As far as coding and balancing goes any new content would throw that off, it's up to the Devs to "Right the ship" so to speak. I can't speak for everyone but it was the slower pace and the focus on rp and pve that drew me in, not so much that it was CLASSIC, it could be BC, WoTLK, Cata, Mist, WoD, Legion, or BFA, I like what this community is doing, I don't care what style of WoW it is. Ultimately it's up to the Turtles (Both Dev and Players) to discuss and decide what we want (Still wouldn't mind playing a bomb toting Goblin Warrior though).

tbh fully honest... I was driven by vanilla and rates, but ascension wow made me value the quality custom ideas.
What Pompa made with this disguise idea is great concept and we should support it.
Reliving some of the old ideas and making them happen and playable... I'm all up for it.

As you said, devs have the final word, but this neutral goblin race has my vote totally. It would be super unique and biggest feature of the server for sure.

Here's a quick list I compiled of great ideas that were scrapped before launch. Keep in mind I filtered only quality and unmentioned content.
  • Plainsrunning - Tauren racial ability that increases movement speed.
  • Lacerate - Survival Hunter melee ability.
  • Isle of Doctor Lapidis - An island off to the coast of STV.
  • Outland - A 54-60 leveling zone.
  • Old Succubus - A less clothed version of the one we have today.
  • Hunter's Focus - Hunters' only resourse that regenerated when standing still.

Anyways, just throwing some ideas for fun. I love what you guys did with the rest of the Sands of Time additions, including the latest one, as well as the Gurubashi Arena quest system. It's truly joyful to see our favorite game get quality flavoring!

I would LOVE playable goblins so, so much!!

But I don't think we should do anything too crazy with them. I'd say either give them the option to pick either faction, or have them join the Horde (the Steamwheedle Cartel -was- allied with the Horde, during the initial invasion of Azeroth) and give the Alliance something else...? What are some possible Alliance races? What other races can equip armor and have all their emotes?

A suggestion regarding rogue skill Disguise.

May we have a randomly made peons, peasants and other human skins with a random face, random features, random hair and so on? Kinda strange you get the same appearance if you were busted with one already. Troggs could remain the same since there aren't any random troggs out there, right? Could be just as well cool to have a disguise as a male or female by choice.

Who knows? I still like the goblins even this far out. I think we could collectively make something balanced for Vanilla. A room of monkeys and typewriters, you know!

I like the idea of more Paladin talents =)

I was searching the database on my own vanilla server 1 or 2 years ago which talents i could find.

Most interesting is crusa strike for sure.

About the goblin race. I am not a big fan of major changes of the original game but i like the idea. There is a server called "heroes wow" that allows to choose many more races. It`s a custom high rate xpac server now, but before that it was a vanilla server who allowed to paly ogres, gnolls, naga, highelf and stuff like taht. I tried it back then and it was a pretty unique experience but as there was stated already those models arent fully worked out. "Creating a new zone/starting area" - not a good idea if you ask me.

About the Island of Dr. Lapidides or however he is spelled and other hidden/not released zones exist more or less. But they are just empty. Fillingèm with npc`s quests etc would be pretty custom and i dont know people would like that much.

Unfortunately we can't add more races to the game without creating custom patches. The only thing we can do is to add items that allow you to morph in a Goblin or whatever, just cosmetics, like a disguise.
