Make wearing a certain factions tabard give rep

Subject pretty much covers it. It would allow for easier ways to get rep up with certain factions and get more unique mounts being ridden in Azeroth!

Am I the only sceptic about it ? It felt really bad in WOTLK when you just put a tabard and ran in dungeon for like 4hours straight and then never touch the reputation/tabard again.
As far as I agree it's a really nice QoL, it should be really a limited thing because I don't really like the idea of running BRD and having gain reputation for Argent Dawn for example.

If we are talking mounts we could hand out chains of dementor quests (long and painful) to gain alliance with opposite factions. The idea has been brought up so many times in many ways as like being able to visit towns, learn foreign languages, start sharing quests, learn each others' cuisine, religion, massage techniques and not to mention <insert punchline>. Maybe someone will do something about it with some more sense of humor...

This tabard mechanic actually promoted a bad gameplay experience in retail. The dungeon braindead farm, completely disconnected from any roleplay reason. Yes it is quicker, but it breaks immersion and becomes a mindless chore.

I think the vanilla design of linking reputation to quests (and specific mobs hated for lore reasons) is a far more intelligent design, as it promotes interacting with the faction you want to courtship. From a gameplay perspective, it is more involved. From a roleplay/immersion perspective, it is more thematic (you are literally aiding the people who respect you).

You mean, lowering the reputation needed to become exalted ?
Well that's lowering one of the main progressions of the game ; that's shrinking the game experience. The point of a game is to play the game, init ? The point of the rewards is to showcase to others that you played the game. If you obtain rewards without playing, or with minimal play, they become meaningless (like in retail where everybody is "special" so nobody is).

This seems like the better option of the two. Another option would be to have certain rep gaining events or more quests created for factions that most have a hard time getting reputation for.

Straight reputation for a tabard could make the game way too dungeon grindy. I prefer methods that keep players out in the non-instanced game world.
