I have a question about this wonderful system you have created.

How detailed can you make theses quests?

Can you make stuff like scripted events? Like mobs teleporting in, doing monologues and emote/casting animations, switching gear and weapons, changing models, going from a friendly NPC to a Hostile one and perhaps the other way around (Sorta like the interrogation quests in The Missing Diplomat questline).

And what about escort quests?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hello there !

I created a few items mainly with the idea of adding lore flavor to the game.
Note that the stats like before aren't really my thing, and I was shooting more for the "immersion". This means that the items need some adjustments.

I was aiming for this necklace to drop in the Alterac Mountains.

https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/itemcreat ... 5VTEwiXQ==

Made this ring as a drop in Dire Maul.

https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/itemcreat ... JOVUxMIl0=

And last but not least, these boots. Could be a drop in Lower Blackrock Spire perhaps.

https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/itemcreat ... 5VTEwiXQ==

Once again, these items could be adjusted and used for whatever level, place and zone you'd like. I just wanted to add some items that could make the world feel more persistent and believable. satisfied_turtle

My goals & intentions for these quests:
  • Undead players are given a quest about half way through TIrisfal Glades to speak with Belthor Iceshard in the Undercity, a similar quest in Goldshire introduces the Player to a few more quests they can do inside Stormwind, i.e; delivering wine, or linen, etc. This quest gives new forsaken players something to discover & do in the buried necropolis, while dumping a little dark forsaken exposition that otherwise isn't really explored until they do the Scholomance quest chain 45 levels later. The quest should fit well into the flow of the Forsaken questing experience, being done alongside Rear Guard Patrol, from Death Guard Leanna.
  • Tirisfal is, pardon the pun, a bit of a dead zone? I'm new to the server, I understand Alliance seems to be the majority population as with most rp/pve servers. Compared to the experience I had leveling a Helf Paladin in Elwynn, well the contrast is a little stark. I want to add a bit of grandeur to Tirisfal, something which draws players in & is exciting. The Undead's very own Hogger, calling in players from across the world to aid in the beasts demise. Such a creature demands a worthy reward.
  • Again I will say, the truly demented parts of the Scourge's & Forsaken's stories aren't touched upon very much, off the top of my head, The Scholomance dungeon & it's associated quests are really the only example I can think of from Vanilla. I feel these dark moments are good for the Forsaken story as it really rubs it in your face to remind you, these zombies, who are plaguing people & experimenting on people, do have a very awful, tragic backstory, and adds depth to them that isn't just "Ooh woo whacky zambie scientist man make silly goop slimes." or edgy "I feel nothing. Existence is sorrow. Sometimes I wonder how my family is doing, then I wonder why I no longer care." emospeech.

The Scourge are interesting when they're ripping out their hearts, trying to destroy the last remnants of their humanity, unable to escape the basic failings of their mortality. Arrogance, Pride, Wrath, Sloth. Even Arthas, after everything he did, still held onto Jaina's Locket, and still went back for Invincible, non canon as it may be to Turtle-WoW, the characterization is the characterization.

The Forsaken are interesting when they're doing everything they can to hold on to what remains of their humanity, against the gnawing curse of their undeath, every instinct telling them to blight the land, every moment the Helm of Domination is attempting to reassert itself. When the Will of the Forsaken overcomes their depression.

So, I wanted to explore Jeremiah Payson's relationship with his roaches. I feel like it maybe a little on the nose, but this is still Warcraft.
  • With Undead Hunters presumably coming to the game with Undead pets, Cerberus would certainly be a must-have for any Beast Master's collection, again drawing players to the area, encouraging RP.
  • The Balnir Farmstead, being the Grave of Invincible, is a pretty under-utilized part of the Tirisfal map. Death Guard Leanna sends you here to grind mobs, Forsaken mages come here to pick flowers, and there's a rare spawn here, who can be a real pita. This new quest makes doing these others a little more worth while, encouraging grouping to slay the undead.

Why did Arthas leave his favorite pet rotting in the ground, forgotten? He didn't, he left a guard dog to ensure no novice acolytes would turn his beloved invincible into the steed of some pissant. He fully intended on coming back(which he did in WoTLK,)with UC as his capital. He didn't know he would become bound to the Throne when he left.

"You want to know why I care for these roaches?"

[The Roach Tenders Tragedy](https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/questcrea ... F4IjoxMH1d)Image Another quest for everyone's favorite Roachman.
Hmm...before I begin; forgive me my failing mind. The events before the plague are hazy. The memories are like a blizzard, indomitable, opaque & biting.

Surely, you have seen the Abominations shambling about?
The broken souls & bodies of the dead, stitched together in a mad display of depravity.

After the plague took us, the Cult swept across the city like locusts, stealing from us what they liked best. They rode into town shrouded in their purple cloaks, atop their pale steeds & commanded us wordlessly with small flicks of their wrists.

All we could do was watch in terror as we were forced to turn on our surviving countrymen. We swarmed them like locusts, the pulp of blood & rot was all that remained.

When we were done dismantling our birthplace, after Arthas had left the second time for Northrend & The Undercity had been excavated the Cult's Skeleton Crew wanted to have a competition to test the extent of their cruelty.

We were nothing to them, they were like children, plucking the wings off of flies, giggling as we twitched & squirmed.

Unable to scream.
They mutilated us.
Violated us.

My friends, my brother. Their bodies were broken, torn apart piece by piece & molded into the shape of a hound. They sewed the heads on last & called them 'Cerberus'. (Emote: He spits.)
They were commanded like dogs. (Emote: He scowls)
Rip. Shred. Kill.

They were coming for me when the veil was lifted, and my mind was my own again. The Gates of Hell were swung open. Our shackles, broken.

I cannot describe to you the whirlwind of blood, pain, hate & rage that we were, twisting & screaming as we tore across the land that birthed us, destroying the evil that made us.

We were like locusts, shrouding the country, killing the ones we hated most.

The Cultists had not 'blessed' themselves with the same 'gifts' they had bestowed upon us. A few of us had been learned mages in life. They thought to return the favor.

(Emote: He grins and gestures towards a friendly abomination.)

Do you see this book? I took it from the one who broke my brother.
I spent an eternity pouring over this tome. Trying to find the words which would set my brother free. I prayed day & night for salvation, but there is no light in this forsaken place.

Then it came to me like a memory from my childhood.
It was so brief, a mere whisper in the back of my mind. I may've not noticed if the words were not branded onto my soul.

Do you see this tome? It is the Devil's bible. A guide-book on cruelty. On these flesh bound pages, written in blood are the words I spoke that ripped my brother's souls from the monstrosity they had been bound.

They didn't have any bodies to go back to, though. So I brought them these. (Emote: He gestures to the roaches which swarm around him.)

The only creature that still thrives in this festering land, feasting on the rot & sludge. Surprisingly smart little things, too. Do not pity them, they enjoy their new form.

Being as they are, however, I can no longer tell which are my brothers. So I am obligated to protect them all.

The others do not understand, they do not realize we are kin. Even the lowest rodent which carried the plague into our homes is a victim of The Prince, same as we.
________________________________________________________________________________________
(The spoiler text is intended to be gossip dialogue you click through as the goal of this first quest. I couldn't figure out how to make that happen though. I do not want it to be scripted dialogue you have to sit through like with the Alah'Thalas introduction quest in Stormwind, if a player wants to skip through it asap, they should be able to.

I understand that the text might be a little dark for Turtle-WoW's aesthetics, I tried really hard to keep this idea within the tone of Warcraft and in line with Scholomance. I also understand that this is a lot of text, please believe me when I say this is the heavily cut down & censored version of the concept.)

We do not get much characterization out of Jeremiah, but in the few times he's referenced we get the sense that he's looked down upon even in The Undercity, by other Undead, and he still cares when we mention to him his dead sister, threatening a "boot in our posteriors." if our intent is to disrespect his family.

How far does death's empathy extend? Is he actually just as vengeful, self serving & hate-bound as other Undead we meet? What is the Undead's relationship with other discarded, looked down upon things like themselves? What was life like for a mindless ghoul before they were free? Why did Arthas let his favorite Steed rot in the ground while he frolicked about Northrend? These 2 little quests attempt to address some of these questions, while letting others linger.

(Helmets? With stats? At level 10? Insanity, I know.)

Let me tell you, that words cannot describe the happiness I felt when I made my Helf paladin, and I finished their rudimentary starting zone, and I was rewarded with a rose to wear in my hair. This has been the highlight of my time playing on this server so far, and then imagine my shock when I was awarded with ANOTHER helm in Elwynn Forest.
Perhaps this is a slippery slope? But if we can have aesthetic helmets at level 5, why not have low level statted helmets scattered about? They already sort of exist with the engineering goggles, but why should they get all the low level helmet fun? I feel like these helmets aren't particularly strong, maybe equally as strong as the engineering goggles, some stam, some main stat, lil bit of shadow res seasoning for the flavor.

I will concede however, these helmets all purely exist due to the fact that I came up with the mail one & it's flavor text first, I just have to have it, clearly I couldn't show my bias though, and made helms for the other armor types. If being common quality would get these into the game, I would be happy.

No Choice:Image
https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/itemcreat ... JOVUxMIl0=
(Fleshcrafting: For Fools, is clearly a very powerful item. It casts rank 2 Drain Life, 10 levels before even warlocks themselves get it. I intended for this item to have a 20 minute cooldown or so, and I know cooldowns are not necessarily the way to balance an item, but in this case I do sincerely believe that this book is merely a strong flavorful tool to draw players in & be used to ease the leveling experience in a few tight spots for some classes. Warriors & Rogues come to mind. If it's better balanced without the shadow resist, or as rank 1, or with an entirely different use, then so be it.

The secondary intent is to undercut the dark tone of the quests with a little bit of humor. Jeremiah spends a long time trying to unlock the secrets of this black text, when it's really just a Necromancy for Dummies book that highlights Scourge incompetency. I feel this sort of humor is in line with Blizzards own.)

In closing, I have been working on this for the worst part of the day.
It is 3am, English is my first language, I apologize for any grammatical mistakes, misplaced apostrophe's, incomplete NPC's or any other inconvenience or otherwise annoyance.
I sincerely appreciate & respect your consideration. I understand if my incompetence, or otherwise lack of Development resources, or a contradiction in developer goals means that this little quest chain cannot exist. The process of creation was fun & fulfilling, and I thank you Turtle WoW team for the opportunity.

-Executrix Sorrowgrave/Justiciar Greydawn.
(PS: The chest piece, with the Purple Tabard that the Death Guards wear, is there any way this can be implemented into the game as an equippable item? If this were added to the donation shop under the tabards section, I would certainly be compelled to get one.)

Benny Blaanco at the Furlbrow farm was always kinda just there, so I wrote a quest to kill him and bring his head to Captain Danuvin at Sentinel Hill. All it would require is adding a wanted poster somewhere in Sentinel Hill, either at the tower or next to the inn.

I am trying to figure out the quest creator. I have a quest giver (NPC). I would like the quest to end at an object (tracks on the ground). I only see CreatureTemplateID as an option for quest end though. Is that a hard limit to the creator or am I missing something?

Another quick flavor/lore item I made. Needs adjusting methinks.
Could maybe drop in Demon Fall Canyon, or perhaps Blackfathom deeps ?

Not that I know of, unfortunately. I haven't really played Horde much in general, so I don't know if there are any named NPCs running around that have nothing related to them. I think there's a locked chest at the Scarlet camp in Venomweb Vale in Tirisfal that had nothing related to it, but I'm not sure.

I decided to test the waters and make a quest of my own. https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/questcrea ... giOjEwfV0=

It's a short, one-off, traditional "kill X wolves" quest at the Hinterlands for Alliance, to give a purpose to the many, MANY wolves that litter the Hinterlands but serve no purpose for any sort of quest. In TBC, this was actually an official quest added in at Aerie Peak called "Preying on the Predators" and was given to a new draenei NPC in the region. But since there's obviously no such draenei NPC, instead the quest's given out by Falstad Wildhammer, the High Thane of the Wildhammer dwarves who wants you to get some "real work done" rather than acting as some chatterboxing errand-boy when you first meet him.
Main character: Keldren

Created a few quests for Alliance players based out of Silverpine Forest.

The first one is to kill Archmage Arugal in Shadowfang Keep, dubbed "The Madness of Arugal".

It should be given by Archmage Ataeric in Ambermill. I chose him in particular because I feel like there's not much around the Ambermill region in spite of being Alliance-aligned, aside from a few vendors. It's a bit out of the way, but any Alliance players exploring the world who end up in Silverpine will find a safe haven in Ambermill, and find Ataeric giving out a quest to kill Arugal*. Furthermore, lore-wise, Ataeric's affiliations to the Kirin Tor that Arugal deserted, in addition to Ataeric's close proximity to Shadowfang and Arugal, made it feel fitting.

*Alternatively, there could just be a breadcrumb quest sending people to Ataeric if this is seen as too complicated.

https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/questcrea ... I6MTB9XQ==

ITEMS:

Head of Arugal
Not custom; same item as in "Arugal Must Die"

REWARDS:

Seal of the Kirin Tor
https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/itemcreat ... AsMCwxXQ==

Dalaran Protector's Band
https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/itemcreat ... wwLDAsMV0=

The next two is a simple quest chain revolving around aiding Dalin Forgewright in protecting the refugees at the Greymane Wall. For the first quest, dubbed "Culling the Moonrage", he sends you out to kill some of the worgen that wander between the Greymane Wall and Pyrewood Village.

https://dev.turtle-wow.org/#!/questcrea ... I6MTB9XQ==

The follow-up, dubbed "The Sons of Arugal", is slightly higher level and a group quest. Dalin tells you to gather your friends and sends you out to kill, surprise, surprise, some of the Sons of Arugal to send a message to the mad archmage. I'm not sure how many to put - one seems like not enough, but I also don't know how many can be spawned at a time, so I don't want to make it too tedious while also not making it too hard especially given how out-of-the-way it is, so right now it's at two Sons to kill.

As a reward, you get a weapon forged by Wallace the Blind.

Hello!

Thank you very much for your time and the passion you've shown with these.
I'd like you to know a quest to kill Arugal already exists but it will be changed in the future, I will keep track of the other quest and maybe implement it with the changes I wanna do in Silverpine myself.
I don't wish to spoil it, but I don't also want you to think your effort will be in vain, I am very sorry it has to be like that, but I will try my best to fit at least the one at the Greymane Wall with my idea.

Once again thank you for the time and your understanding.

A little side comment, because I have yet to get into this (I think maybe I am more about quest line creation), but:

I absolutely love running across the TW item creations in game. It makes the game have those little spark moments - "whoa look at that!!"

I couldn't figure out how to do this with the creator tools. Dark Iron shells and Diamond tipped arrows (20DPS)crafting recipe for engineers that requires Thorium Brotherhood honored reputation. Needing dark Iron residue, black diamonds, dense blasting powder to create. Thought another use for residue and black diamonds would spark action house revenue and give hunters a boost to next lvl ammo was needed as well.

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but it was not originally intended for either paladins or warlocks to get a free mount at level 40. For whatever reason, the quests where these two classes would have earned their level 40 mounts were never completed in time for release, but were intended to eventually be added back into the game at a later date. This never came to pass.

Proof of this can be seen in the quest text from both the warlock and paladin level 40 mount quests.
I would give you a reward for your patience and hard work. But know this, the ability to summon a Felsteed will be much more difficult in the future. You will have to earn it... and it will not be easy.
The time has come for me to bestow a great gift upon you. But know this, for now I give you this freely, but later, when time permits, this will be a much greater challenge to all paladins who choose to undertake my quest.
While doing research, I came across an interesting little area called Shadowbreak Ravine in Desolace. Despite being a fairly fleshed out area with a bunch of buildings and mobs, and even being represented on the in-game map, there are no quests attached to this location. And within this location, I found two interesting NPCs: a Captured Stallion that looks like the summoned warhorse minus its barding (horse armor), and a Burning Blade Nightmare that uses the same model as the summoned felsteed. Both these horses are neutral and drop nothing when killed. Further research found others speculating this area was to be used for the scrapped level 40 mount quests.

So with all that out of the way, here are some quests I wrote for more fleshed out level 40 mount quests. The idea was to make these quests somewhat soloable but also require a social component by involving multiple different tradeskills (which would also add a monetary cost to the mount, but based on auction house searches, would still be much less than just buying your training). These quests were also designed to be similar but also a little different, with the paladin one being about freeing a captured paladin horse, and the warlock one being about stealing and enslaving a demon horse from other demonlovers. I also added a trinket as a part of the final reward to make up for the fact that these quests aren't freebies like they used to be.

The Test of Nobility (1)
The Test of Nobility (2)
The Test of Nobility (3)

Rein It In (1)
Rein It In (2)

Truesilver Barding
Cursed Feed Bag
Lucky Horseshoe

This is all still very much a rough draft, so I'd appreciate feedback. Additionally, if the idea of taking away the free mount is too much, it also possible to let players choose between doing the freebie quest and getting no trinket (and also living with the eternal shame of taking the freebie mount) or doing these quests and getting a nice little trinket that'll help them level. Also as a note, if these quests are added, the Captured Stallion and Burning Blade Nightmare would probably have to be changed from neutral to friendly so you could right-click them and finish the quests without killing them. And it'd be neat if the NPC horse actually despawned when you completed the quest.

Before I try my hand at it: Are Silverpine quests for the Murlocs and Olsen's Farthing planned within the next update? Because both these areas are unused for quests in a zone lacking quests.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the two proposed quest chains. I have been modifying the comment as I practiced with the editor.
On the Murloc quest chain, I thought he might have a fourth quest that sends you to Blackfathom Deeps to study the murlocs there. But according to what I read, you are going to remake this area and perhaps all this does not make much sense.
Greetings to all

Interesting ideas, alas, that Progress Text is way too off, and to fix that I'd urge you to compare what we have at least in OG Blizz made quests. Feel free to investigate them either on our DB or wowhead if you feel like it.

Hello Sinrek,
Thank you very much for your comment.
I'm going to work on fixing the progress texts. I was wrong.
I'm also going to try to enrich the other texts and improve the translations and some other things.
When I'm done, I'll put the links in a new comment here.

I like the quests, Morticrun. I like the concept of players gathering murloc brains. One thing I question is, the way the quest text sounds, it seems like the apothecary characters have never heard of a murloc before, and that doesn't make sense because murlocs aren't exactly new to the Lordaeron are (they're there pre-plague in Warcraft 3, for example). Renferrel himself has a quest where he talks about murlocs by name. Not to say they wouldn't be interested in performing tests on murloc brains, but my suggestion would be to maybe rewrite the quest text.

Hello Mac,
That's something I've been thinking about. I'm going to rewrite the quest to fix that.
Thank you very much for your comment, greetings.

I have a doubt. When the quest giver is different from the finisher, who displays the progress text?

I believe it's the quest finisher who displays the progress text in that case.

Hey Mac,
I am happily surprised to see you bring up these quests.
I had contacted Torta on Discord a long while ago, bringing up the idea to make use of the area in Desolace that is so clearly made for aspirering Warlocks to gain their summoning power for the felsteed. At that time the answer was that there was no plan on doing such a thing, but that was then and perhaps this will bring this idea back in the spotlight.

I will have a look at your quest-proposals and maybe you like to hear some of my ideas too. I have only ideas for the Warlock quests, when walking around there, I can easily inmagine what the plan was for this.
