Would you guys say that these items are interchangeable? Did someone already did the logs? They changed the speed here and I would guess these would be basically the same, since one gives more AP and the other gives more DPS... maybe just a little weaker than the crossbow?

Weapon damage is a lie on bows/guns. Look at your char sheet when you swap them of your actual ranged weapon damage. The Xbow will always be better. Slower weapon, bigger slaps. This means Aimed shot as well as multi-shot doing massively more damage.

Well yes and no. The conventional wisdom works, but trueshot is attackspeed normalized. Considering you can cast more trueshots with the musket, you get a better conversion of your attackpower into dmg.

It of course depends on the exact gear you wear and if you can make use of multishot to do cleavedamage.

But we have hunter with both and the consensus seem to be the two weapons are largely interchangeable.

If you are getting a racial bonus to weapon types prefer that weapon (for instance dwarfs ahould probaly go for the gun) even with hunter traditionally not needing the hit you can always take a dmg scope over bizzniks if you are hit overcapped.
Otherwise id simply make the argument that the other potential reward from the gun-token are generally more widely useful in your raid.

Less mana cost(slower speed), higher weapon damage. What else is there to explain?

Ashjre'thul is arguably the second best ranged weapon in the game for Hunters. Not only it scales your Multishot but also allows you to weave in Multishot/any GCD skill right after Trueshot without delaying your next Autoshot/Trueshot. It's less punishing if you lag/make mistakes in your rotation. It also makes kiting easier since you have to stop to attack less often due to slower speed.

It's the fact you wanna do autoshot > trueshot > multi-shot > auto shot > trueshot > arcane shot > auto shot.
You weave trueshot with multi shot and arcane shot before auto shot again. Thus you need the slowest weapon. 3.20 or above is great for weaving like this. It's the optimal dps output for now.
