How about a Class Trial system for level 60 players?
A 1 boss instance which is scripted to each class in order to rank their dps but also including skill checks relevant to class specific abilities/movement (eg, kicks/blinks/stuns etc.). This will make gear just part of the ranking.
The instance could also be tailored to each class in terms of platforms/pillars etc.
