Covert Screenshots (TGA - JPG)
Covert Screenshots (TGA - JPG)
Greetings again TurtleWow Community,
I got some awesome mjail this morning, and I wanted to screenshot it! Unfortunatly I had lost my old Converter I used from warcraft 3 that converted TGA files to JPG. I used it for wow screenshots as well.
I was smart when I uploaded it to my guildmates from other projects. If anyone needs a small converter simply download and put this in your screenshots folder. when you start it up it will convert ALL TGA files in the folder to JPG.
enjoy

Re: Covert Screenshots (TGA - JPG)
Be sure to un-tick the 'Adjust image brightness' option. I mean, your preference is up to you, but I did a side-by-side and the adjusted ones are really washed-out. I shouldn't have to tell you this, but until you're sure you're satisfied with the settings, don't delete the originals.
(I'm assuming this is the same ConvertShots.exe that was posted to Discord.)

I also recommend Irfan View, it is very versatile for this kind of stuff.

Just confirming that the program in this link worked fine. The converted .jpg files are slightly less saturated than the original .tga files, but it's not noticeable unless you directly compare the two files.Bigpoop wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 9:27 amlink seems broken...

Shrunk my screenshots folder from 18gb to 750mb
Re: Covert Screenshots (TGA - JPG)
Can someone tell me, why aren't screenshoots saved in the first place, as jpeg, or even better png?

Open-Source Alternative for Conversion
Pardon the post, but I don't deal with closed-source software that a random person posts.
I use an alternative called 'Greenshot' that allows for taking screenshots without dealing with TGAs in the first place.
Source code & Download: https://github.com/greenshot/greenshot/
Fully open-sourced and FREE on Windows; costs like $2 USD if you want precompiled binaries on MacOS.
Greenshot is also available as a portable no-install version as well: https://getgreenshot.org/version-history/
I'd strongly recommend sticking to the last known 'stable' version from 2017 unless you like testing software.

Re: Covert Screenshots (TGA - JPG)
You don't really have to do any of this.
As soon as you press PrintScrn, you copy the screenshot to the clipboard, you can then paste it in various places like Discord or image uploading websites like imgbb.com and it uploads in PNG or JPG.
Also if you have any image viewer that's not the default POS, it supports opening TGA images. On Linux, even the default image viewer supports TGA.
