Turtle WoW

Greetings!

When we first introduced Hardcore Mode, we were so excited to see our players earn the coveted title of “Immortal” that we added the most epic mount we could find — one that is pretty immersion-breaking in an Azeroth without flying mounts. A dragon with broken wings.

So, we’re considering replacing the Armored Azure Drake with an equally fantastic but more lore-friendly model.

We're discussing alternative models, but as a server who is first and foremost community-focused, we want your input!

Comment below with feedback you have on this change. Do you like it or dislike it? If you do like it, do you have any suggestions for a replacement mount? We’ll take all of your feedback into consideration and will decide the replacement, if any, depending on your input.

Maybe get one free mount from turtle shop? and player is free to choose

The Headless Horsemans Mount would be interesting. Sidaw's Suggestion is a good one too

I mean the vanilla ones, not the overdesigned MoP/WoD ones.

Im going with Sidwar. Let the players chose from the shop. Right now, HC rewards are pretty meh considering the effort made, this would encourage more players into HC

Alternatively, I'd suggest this one:

Maybe make a "mount" but instead of mount character would look like he's sprinting at 100% speed?
Or flying like priest's levitation.
Call it like Immortal's Determination

Another suggestion I have in mind is Spectral Steed for the Alliance

I don't well what do you want to mean with a lore-friendly model, but we're on turtle wow, maybe as Immortal, instead to get this mount freely, we can do an unique quest to get it.

So, a turtle. Again ? Yes and no. It's maybe MoP, but it's still ok to no break immersion, to me. By the way, a quest with Torta, again ? Why not or his distant's family, ah-ah.

People'll want a badass one, turtles like those are really something, wut, and it's for both : Alliance & Horde, no one is jealous or maybe get a turtle more like for Horde and another for Alliance. What do you think ?

I think the Dragon Turtle mounts from Mist of Pandaria would make a fine addition to the server, it's a really cool mount which model is never used on retail because it's non-flying.

Also, it would perfectly fit with the Server name ! There are several of them with different coulours to choose from.

Though I agree with removing the drake as the reward, I think people who have gotten it should get to keep it. (I have not gotten 60 in HC yet but play it regularly so not biased.)

Edit:

Please don't make it another turtle mount, while they are fun and silly I don't think its the best reward for such a long and difficult challenge.

A special mount fit for the race of the character.

NE -> frostsaber-type mount
Orc -> wolf-type mount

Don't know where you would get the assets, but its neat if you can get a race-specific mount.

I think it should have a few properites:
1) should be obtained only by hardcore challenge and not with other methods
2) be visible and stand out from other mounts
3) be universal (meaning: good looking with all races from smallest of gnomes to the biggest of taurens).
4) be lore friendly and grounded in vanila wow reallity
5) be connected with turtle wow realm identity
6) be connected with idea of immortallity itself
7) don't interfere (or be lookalike) with class specific mounts/race specific mount

In that sense The Headless Horsemans mount is okay one, there is tradeof: from one standpoint it's connected with immortality idea and it looks unique, but on the other hand it's kinda clash with warlock/undead theme and don"t have this kind of visibility presence which Armored Azure Drake had.

Armored battle tortuga is nice idea in that regard - it's themed around realm idea itself, it looks unique (and should be different from default speedy torta from quest. And it's kinda immortal because they have looong lifespan, and immortallity is about not dying, and not about ressurecting from dead or be undead On the other hand - there is already half of server of tortugas, and it would be more fitting slow&steady idea.

There is another topic: some of immortals maybe already stick to their Azure Drakes and love them, and this change, can somewhat make them unhappy.

For me personally for example one of reasons to do this challenge were to get this mount because i like it's animation, it has some tactical advantages for av pvp in misdirection other faction players as rogue, and i like blue theme of mount itself and combined with safe fall effect you get cool looking, almost flying animation But as i'm playing undead anyway The Headless Horsemans would fit me perfect.

What's the point of banning a dragon mount for being non-lore friendly, and yet keeping store stuff like floating cloud mounts? Be consistent, or don't bother.

And what about a dragonspawn? Those without wings and 4 legs

Could a player fit on it?

i would say any mount as long as it is with a custom turtle wow skin or carrying a turtle wow flag

How about no mount but the people who get the immortal title really are immortal and can't go below 1 hit point no matter the damage. :)

Bigger topic. From my perspective, two questions about dragon:

• What about the dragon? Will we be able to acquire it?

• If so, how? If not, when is the change expected to come in? :(

I'm excited to see that this might be changed, but what about those who've already used the Armored Azure Drake? Personally, I'd be very happy to have it be removed from my collection and be sent anything else in it's place.

If the issue is they cannot fly, why not add a ability that allows the rider to fly for 30 seconds but has an 1hr cooldown?

Alternatively if that idea is broken, the next best thing would be dinosaurs, Devilsaurs will suffice for HC

How about the Ultramarine Qiraji Battle Tank? It's a qiraji tank usable outside of AQ but not the scarab gong one.

I do like the drake, even if it can't fly.

I don't really like dragons as mounts, they're overused and way too generic.
Dragons fits more for World Boss / Raid Drops but not for a Hardcore Challenge reward.

Alternatively, I'd also suggest a Bronze Dragonflight imbued mount, like the headless horseman mount but with bronze dragonflight coloration to match the immortality of the title. Or the spectral steeds with bronze colors.
