wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
Hi, watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAFMiQjdhRM
it works, the new Classic 1.14.0 client works with 1.12.1 servers.
And keep in mind that 1.14.0 macros have nothing to do with 1.12.1 macros, or addons, or controller support (yes its totally possible), even graphics, and directx 12 support.

I would love to have more fps. But then I would also hate to lose my all powerfull macros and addons with no protected functions in combat

Thank you, g'night.Yuritsuki via Reddit wrote:No, you can’t atm. Turtle, V+ -like custom content is made exclusively for the old client and should be remade from the scratch to the new client in order to support it. The new client has different file formats, data structures. So for now u can only play it on clean vanilla servers without anticheatvitor210 via Reddit wrote:Holy 𝚠𝚘𝚕𝚜𝚑 this is huge!! Not currently playing. Just skulking and snarking~

So basically we can't play Turtle Wow on 1.14.0 client atm, but we can hope staff from turtle wow will someday remade the server for the new client ?

I doubt that will ever happen.
The current client works well enough, it's optimized well and I can't recall any instance where this one is inferior to the new one. Some purists even say that Activision's Classic isn't 100% the same as Vanilla and never will be. There are some minor differences that make sure that never happens.
Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
good to know which ports turtle is using, so i could make a turtle version of that
Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
Nice. And very interesting. Thank u. I hope that it possible here
Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client

Is there any work being done to improve the graphics and the appearance of items within the capabilities of the game client itself?
How to take part?

Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
if the client becomes 64 bit, this would enable more compatibility especially with mac devices
Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
well, u know, fps performance is much better in the 1.14 clientAllwynd01 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 3:26 pmNo.Wrathfulwolf wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 2:08 pmSo basically we can't play Turtle Wow on 1.14.0 client atm, but we can hope staff from turtle wow will someday remade the server for the new client ?

also the water and grass moving and sunshafts etc
graphic is inferior in the old client and i dont think that its arguable
Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
I played Classic in 2019 for a few months and I know there are some differences, but it's not that noticeable. FPS is not something I've noticed. I've never had problems with 1.12.1 FPS, it always had over 60 FPS. This is not some Quake/Unreal twitch shooter you know. If you get below 60 FPS, it's on you.Remorsx wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 8:53 amwell, u know, fps performance is much better in the 1.14 clientAllwynd01 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 3:26 pmNo.Wrathfulwolf wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 2:08 pmSo basically we can't play Turtle Wow on 1.14.0 client atm, but we can hope staff from turtle wow will someday remade the server for the new client ?

i WAS getting 64 fps on my 75hz monitor which was quite noticable, but they fixed that problem after the last updateAllwynd01 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 3:35 pmI played Classic in 2019 for a few months and I know there are some differences, but it's not that noticeable. anyway lightning/graphics/etc are superior u cant argue about that
Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
Lighting may be better, but I don't remember much else. Was there more draw distance/farclip or how much further you can see mobs and other players? The new water is also something that is debatable - some people like it, others don't. The last thing that comes to mind may be more grass density and foliage interaction where if you move in the grass, the grass moves too.Remorsx wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 7:56 pmi WAS getting 64 fps on my 75hz monitor which was quite noticable, but they fixed that problem after the last updateAllwynd01 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 3:35 pmI played Classic in 2019 for a few months and I know there are some differences, but it's not that noticeable. U can see further on Turtle than on classic. Much further as a matter of fact.Allwynd01 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:52 pmLighting may be better, but I don't remember much else. Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
tested it right now
shadows lightings no sound bugs no fps lags no stuttering and an ability to play with any language of your choice
1.14 is so much superior to the 1.12 i dont know how u cant argue about that lol
i hope one day devs will look into playing with it on the server as i'm certain many would love to

Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
Yeah, it’s a lot of under the hood stuff that makes the gameplay of 1.14 so much better. The old client still uses DirectX 9 on 32-bit and the lack of optimization is causing stuttering regardless of hardware.
I wish the development team would find a way to add the custom modifications to the new client to enable better performance and support for modern addons.
By the way, Hermes Proxy recently added a macOS release so modern Macs could make use of the native ARM client! Unfortunately it will only work for private servers without custom content for now

Re: wow 1.12.1 server with 1.14.0 (64bit) client
Have you tried the 4GB patch? It's supposed to patch WoW.exe so it can use more than 4GB of RAM. For me it hardly makes a difference - I never had stuttering prior to the patch or after patching.Akamizu wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 4:20 pmYeah, it’s a lot of under the hood stuff that makes the gameplay of 1.14 so much better. This....the classic client runs very well for me where as this 1.12 client runs pretty crappy on my PC. :/Akamizu wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 4:20 pmYeah, it’s a lot of under the hood stuff that makes the gameplay of 1.14 so much better. I don't have a super powerful pc or anything I have a 1060, 16gb of ram and an intel 7 six core and i still don't get the best fps. On retail my FPS is actually better. LOL
