Thinking about playing a mage...

My best friend recently passed away from covid and I'm thinking about playing a mage to max level in his honour since it was his favourite class and he never made it past level 20 here due to me forcing him to make a new alt every couple of days for whatever silly idea I had at the time (I'm bipolar so this happens a lot this might even be one of those times).

What I need from you guys is a build that I can follow on the road to 60 since I know nothing about mages (it's the only class I've never played even in any of wow's expansions)

Thanks, I think Paul was an arcane mage on retail so I'll try a frost + arcane build

If he was an arcane mage on retail then it might be worth waiting for the next big update. Arcane mages are getting a buff, and will be more viable to level fully as; rather than going mostly fire/frost with a dip into arcane
