Diminishing Returns

Post by Dramatized » Fri May 03, 2024 2:22 am

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this but I'm going to ask anyways. Is there any future plan to add diminishing returns to things like polymorph, fear, sap, etc? It's kind of crazy that you can spend an entire BG as a pig or sheep and there's not much you can do about. You can trinket out once every five minutes and if you're a paladin you can bubble out but then for the next 5 minutes your at the mercy of the enemy. Just curious.

Don't they already have diminishing returns? Just very minor.
Like 40 sec sap ---> 20 sec ---> 10 sec
etc etc

But yes should be nerfed because Poly/Sap/Etc are overpowered I agree

However generally speaking you should be following your team/group around in PVP which means someone can Dispel the magic effect of Polymorph off of you

These CC abilities are most broken in 1v1 which PVP is not balanced around
Paladin is broken in PVP.
Frost Mage is broken in PVP/PVE.
Warrior is awful in PVP.
Feral Druid is mediocre in PVP.
Enhancement Shaman is fine. Stop begging for goofy custom abilities.

Those numbers are so far away from reality its just laughable.

Dimishing returns kicks in pretty hard. You cant permasap a player.

CC is fine, unless the class is also tanky as fuck and does dps like a truck.

Thats why I said "like" as in "im not sure the exact numbers"

One thing on Google says in Vanilla PVP Polymorph lasts 20 seconds --> 10 seconds ---> 5 seconds
Happy now?
And yes there is a chance for heartbeat resist as well.

35 seconds of no control of ones character is not "fine" -- its in fact extremely unfun
in arena it can be a death sentence for ones teammate -- they can get killed within 6 seconds easily while you are helpless and just forced to watch in CC
which is why Sap/Poly was nerfed in the very first expac -- TBC reduced it from max 20 sec to 10 seconds

"CC is fine, unless the class is also tanky as fuck and does dps like a truck."

Frost Mage is incredibly tanky. They have multiple shields including literal invulnerability x2
Ice Block also (wisely) got nerfed in TBC

And they hit like a truck with 2.5k Frostbolt crits

Whats your point again..?
Paladin is broken in PVP.
Frost Mage is broken in PVP/PVE.
Warrior is awful in PVP.
Feral Druid is mediocre in PVP.
Enhancement Shaman is fine. Stop begging for goofy custom abilities.

The only problematic CC is fear because it's extremely inconsistent when it comes to breaking with damage. There are times you go from 100% to 0% in a single fear, other times it breaks instantly.
Most CC already has brutal diminishing returns.

Not only fear. Polymorph is deadly for Horde, too. If you have no Priests around, nobody will dispel it.
The devil is in the detail.
