Lord Lothar's Death

Post by Sylveria » Fri Feb 16, 2024 9:28 am

Hey there.

A quick question: Since i noticed some (or many?) People dislike retcons, here's a quick one: Which Death of Lord Anduin Lothar is now considered Canon?

The one, that Lord Lothar went to Blackrock Mountain for negotiations with the Horde and has been murdered? (Original WarCraft II)
Or that He died during the Battle of Blackrock Mountain in a duel with Orgrim Doomhammer? (Retcon)

Question to me now is: When did this retcon happen? Was it during WC3 or maybe already during Vanilla WoW? Or was it way later?

Page 65 of the Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos manual.
"Doomhammer and Lothar squared off in a titanic battle that left both mighty combatants battered and drained.Though Doomhammer narrowly succeeded in vanquishing Lothar, the great hero's death did not have the effect the warchief had hoped for."
