What’s new in the game client?
We understand you might feel worried about a private server making changes to your game, so we have compiled a list of updates. Anyone who’s willing to check it could perform the necessary checks and then compare file hashes.

Patch-T.MPQ
Our patch contains all new graphic and DBC assets for our custom expansions: models, items, spells, objects, sounds and much more. If you feel wary about this content, you’re free to open it with any MPQ Editor (for example, Ladik’s MPQ editor) and look inside.

WoW.exe (1.15.0 Build 6000), additional DLLs & TWPatcher.exe
A small application will be uploaded into your game folder. Do not be afraid of it even if some antiviruses might warn you about it. This file simply has yet no publisher info, that’s why it may trigger a red flag. Its purpose is to place the MPQ file into your Data folder and to patch your binary with the following changes:

New content is great! What about bugs?
Oh, worry not, there will be plenty! To keep things easy, please use this forum thread to report all new bugs in the first couple of weeks. We will try to release a hotfix-update for most of them after a short break.

There were some client-side issues which we could not resolve in time, but we decided to not delay release any further due it’s non-game breaking nature. We do plan to update and improve it in the future updates:

• Cloaks for Goblin males and females are not visible.

• Goblins are presently lacking character customizations.

• Goblin animations for some actions are missing.

• Cloaks for High Elf males and females have a tear in its geometry.

• High Elf female sits slightly offset from the center of their mounts.

• The new races are currently missing emote voicelines.

• High Elves and Goblins don’t have a background in the dressing room.

• Sometimes textures are white, this is fixed upon a relog. The reason for this is presently unknown.

• Different ranks of Sun's Embrace don't share a cooldown.

• Sun's Embrace doesn't show its cooldown timer.

Possible issues and troubleshooting:

• HD WoD/Legion models will not work in the expansion. Your graphics will be totally scrambled. Please uninstall this mod prior to updating. We also advise you to uninstall all custom patches due to not really knowing what issues they could cause.

• To update without problems, you need to have the normal Vanilla Client 1.12.1 Build 5875 / 5877 without any binary modifications.

• Make sure you’ve deleted the WDB folder to clear in-game cache. This can fix many minor issues.
  If, for some reason, an update has downloaded but has not installed, run TWPatcher.exe manually: double click and run.

• Although the Darker Nights patch is currently compatible with the expansion, it is advised to remove this patch or you will experience visual errors or crashes in future content.

We hope you will enjoy the new content and new playable races! We plan on continuing enhancing the game and adding new content for it to continue the adventure in the good old Azeroth.

What about other custom patches we might have in the game folder? Like hi-res texture pack, Ka$hgrim's stuff?

Sadly we don't have a dedicated developer who knows how to modify Mac application. Other Mac users run their new clients on Wine, same as Linux users :) Please attempt this!

So this morning I played both High Elves and Goblins and as Torta asked for review here's my (Jarhead) take on in.

Gameplay-wise everything went smooth. Got Goblin Rogue and High Elf Mage and Priest. All it took on my end was to turn on the game, log in and wait for the update to get installed automatically which was very pleasant.

Generic:
Flight paths got broken, but hey you get teleported so it's quicker.

High Elves:
I haven't experienced any difficulties, had to read the quest descriptions and look around a bit to figure out the objectives but that's normal when the quest helper is not being used. The only thing I had a little problem with was finding the right spot to click the portal to Goldshire as I was expecting the NPC to port me over there after we talked.

Had to look a bit for the High Elf refugee camp in Stormwind so it might be a good idea to introduce come quest to take me there, but then there might be one for high-level players.

Goblins:
Pretty much the same as High Elves, no game-breaking bugs. As I rolled rogue I just noticed the stealth animation is missing, but then in my head, I was thinking maybe it's just some cloaking device that requires you to stand still and move around on some kind of goblin engineering device. Also the if I equip back it is not being displayed but that's not a biggie.

Only them elves protecting the land should not follow you all the way to your camp.
The Goblin racial seems to be a bit bugged as it applies a debuff on you and you are getting slowed randomly for about 5mins.

For some reason, I liked the goblin introduction a bit better, maybe because the final part where you bringing food to the orc in Razor Hill to be part of the horde, made more sense to me. "Forget the Honor, where's the food" is a great line that fits the goblin race perfectly.

Character Creation:
I noticed that gnomes and trolls got new character creation screens which made me believe that there some new starting locations for these guys as well. (Yes I got fooled)

I don't even mind that I cant change the way my goblin looks.

Overall:
I moved to Turtle WoW from Classic retail as I got sick of the Classic community and I really do not want blizzard to keep re-releasing the content as it was all the way to whatever. If blizzard would come up with Classic plus with a new story and kept the difficulty of Classic/Vanilla I would give it a go, but at the moment that's what Turtle WoW is for.

When I was waiting for the expansion release I was trying Cataclysm, Pandaria all the way to Shadowlands private servers and I'm happy there's something fresh that keeps me going back to "Vanilla +" even tho I kind of enjoy Pandaria nowadays.

For me 11 out of 10

Stupid comment:
Maybe just be more accurate with the release days in the future. I was waiting the whole day on the 5th (server time) and ended up going to sleep without playing. I know how difficult it is to plan something and get the project done on time so I would just recommend telling people that the release day will be one day after the server is being shut down for the update. But that's just personal preference and I would not say the "release day" was a bad experience.

Managed to get about 3 hours of playtime of the new expansion so here are my initial thoughts.

First off I’d like to give my thanks to the devs for being extremely helpful and transparent in addressing and helping to fix bugs/problems faced after the launch. The constant news updates and help provided on the discord server and ingame by the GMs helped to iron out many of the inevitable rough spots following a huge content drop.

As for the problems I faced (and from what I saw on the discord server), they mainly involved getting over that initial hurdle of patching the vanilla client/downloading the new one. With many people including myself having the patch come up with invalid files and other such issues. Thankfully there were many provided mirrors to the fresh 1.15 client, but I’m sure it was frustrating for others to have to go through the process of downloading the whole game from scratch just to play. And a weird quirk I found was that myself and many others were shown the server as “offline” if selecting the realm list when logging in, instead of clicking accept.

Another major issue I encountered and heard about was problems involving graveyards. After doing a menethil harbour skip from Dun Morogh to the wetlands, my character was stuck with no spirit healer to revive them. At first I thought this may have been an isolated incident, but I happened to me every time I had a character die. And I saw people in the new starting zones saying they had similar issues in the support/general channels. Hopefully this can be fixed in the announced hot patch, as I find it to be too major of an issue to ignore.

Other smaller minor glitches such as goblins not having capes, mount and idle animations being off, etc are annoying but nothing game breaking. And many of them were listed before the release in order to give people a heads up, which is greatly appreciated.

Being Alliance I went for High Elf first (have yet to try goblin), and I was immediately impressed from the start. The narration and swooping camera of the opening perfectly set the mood. The animations and customization options of the high elfs were very slick makes me excited to see them decked out in full tier sets.

The new quests were well written, and the attention to detail in the starting area was great. From the various elven refuges huddled around stockpiles of supplies brought to give them relief. To the dialogue of the various class trainers being very lore rich. I’m super excited to try out the goblins next. And I can’t wait to see what else the writers and developers have and will create for this expansion.

The class selection for them was good, with their addition finally giving the alliance their third Paladin race. And it’s honestly just a really nice feeling to finally have High Elves playable, and on the alliance.

Overall, while far from a perfect experience, the launch was handled quite well. And it’d be unfair to expect perfection from a small team, when Blizzard themselves are known for quite rocky launches. I’m glad to have had the chance to take a part in such a huge event for the private server community. And I’d once again like to thank the work of Torta and the other developers, as well as the amazing community they have created around their fantastic project. I may have only recently joined, but I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon.

Get PlayOnMac. Easy, free, and works perfectly with the Vanilla client. Install a 32bit bottle, then install Microsoft Core Fonts and directx9 (and ie6 for good measure).

I've only experienced the goblins so far cause i was REALLY anxious to play with them.
About the starting zone:
So far, so good except for the fact that the night elves follows you through GREAT distances. Gladly i rolled a rogue but i don't think the other classes had the same luck avoiding the TONS of night elves who follows back you all the way up to the camp. Besides that, everything worked fine.

About the goblins:
-Missing stealth animation, Not gamebreaking though.
-Missing voicelines, but i think you already mentioned that above.
-Lack of cosmetic optons (even the goblin ponytail we see in some npc's) but then again, i think you already talked about it.
-After (almost) completing ''A Rogue's Deal'' quest at Tirisfal Glades i got permanently at war with the Undercity faction. This made me unable to talk to any undead NPC.
-Using the wormhole always disconects me and sends me back to the previous location.

Other than this, i am really loving being a goblin. t has always been my favourite race at every tabletop rpg, at magic the gathering and at most of the fantasy books i've read so i'm really glad to be able of enjoying the goblinhood with VANILLA mechanics.

Storytelling: 10/10
Quests: 10/10
Starting Zone: 8/10
(Lack of) Gamebreaking Issues: 6/10

So far so good. Very impressive even for a small team imo.

Bugs/Inconsistencies I've encountered:
- Camera being teleported to a random location and then crash.
- Not being able to learn guns as high elf warrior.
- Ally's warrior quest for defensive stance forces you into "At War" relationship with Stormwind for kicking the drunkard's butt, took me a while to realize that and turn it off to be able to turn in quest.
- For high elf quest requiring to free the captives from dwarves, opening cage doesn't complete the objective for all party members, only for the one who opens it, forcing all the other to wait for the cage to close back up.

Things I've heard:
- High elves zone is well balanced apart from last quest that involves freeing the captives from dwarves.
- Sprit healer ressurection is glitched?


Overall, I'm pretty damn impressed, THANK YOU for your awesome work!
