Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Is there a reason why you're stopping at T2 for palette recolours? It seems arbitrary to announce recolours for all the other alt sets to "further differentiate them" from their originals yet not do the same for T3. I know many people are very disappointed already regarding this since T3 is the current endgame set anyway. Fury/Arms warriors with red dreadnought... paladins with red/white redemption for retribution and black/white for protection... druids with autumnal dreamwalker for balance or wintry for feral... black faith for shadow priest... etc. It seems worth the development effort.
Re: Alternative tier sets & midpatch itemization changes
This is kind of a big problem for T2.5 and T3.Elisleris wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 11:01 amNothing will changed in boss drop. Boss still drop the same. But you will be able to buy new set items via old set items as currency.Batey9 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 6:41 pmDoes this mean you are also going to do something about paladin T1 and T2 Legacy? They really aren't good for much of anything and the set bonuses are also not very good. Especially T1.
Also, please use a different token system for the new T2.5 and T3 sets. There is already enough competition on those tokens. Opening them up to more specs when each token already has multiple classes fighting for them is just going to make those sets take forever for anybody to get. Or add another token slot to bosses and double up the token drops. Not doing so would be a monumentally bad decision.
Re: Alternative tier sets & midpatch itemization changes
The problem isn't T1 or T2. The problem is T2.5 and T3. Where you already have multiple classes fighting for 1 token drop. Now it'll be multiple classes and multiple specs of those classes. This is only going to create hell.Xudo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 10:51 amHow about usual MS > OS?Batey9 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 6:41 pmAlso, please use a different token system for the new T2.5 and T3 sets. Alternative for tokens is like it is done in t1 raids. I mean bosses could drop useless pieces of tiers for not popular classes. While demand for more popular classes will only be higher. At least now tokens are always in demand.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
There's already differences between the realms though.Xudo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 5:24 pmI believe that turtle devs will make all changes for all realms simultaneously. So they can't nerf t3 for pvp and keep it for pve.Vaikaris wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 5:20 pmPeople aren't fond of a t3 nerf if they have t3.
If there's nobody with t3, the only people who would hate a t3 nerf in pvp is people who intended to get t3 so they can one-shot non-t3 people with no effort.
That doesn't feel like much of an issue. it's like nerfing reckoning - yeh, I hated it as a paladin in vanilla, that I couldn't one-shot people, but I don't think nerfing reckoning was a bad idea.
They potentially can make additional alternative t3 tiers, alternative (easier) naxx and stuff. But I don't see point in doing it for pvp server only. Raiding is not its main feature anyway. So keeping them closed is good option.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Should add more drops of the tier items so there are enough to go around and not as much competition

Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Hi Drag, could we get a dedicated Beast Mastery T2/T3 alternative set for Hunters.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
So these changes will probably make all of the non-set pieces in naxx worthless. Priests that have been healing full time will be able to have better gear than guys that have been playing shadow full time if they decide to switch their pieces over. Isn't that kind of fucked? Any chance the non set pieces will be buffed?
Also smite priest should do much more dps than shadow priest. It's like frost > fire mage and affliction > destruction warlock. Shadow gives you 10 free +spell hit and group healing/mana regen so it's good for people starting out or for support/decent damage in the end-game, just like frost and affliction. They should NOT be topping the DPS charts. Smite gets 0 hit but if you have the gear it should do a lot more damage than shadow just like fire mages and destruction warlocks.
Since smite won't get a T3 set my hope is that the t2.5 set bonuses and stats will be really strong to compensate or maybe just give smite a T3 set too.

Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Please give Smite 3 Tier Sets aswell
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Just give paladins an enchant for it like they gave to Druid powershifting. Needing to lose glove or ring slot (or both) because it's locked to subpar gear just so paladins can sustain is bunk.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
I'd rather they removed this obviously unintended interaction and gave them proper mana recovery through talents.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Sure. But they didn't do that for Druids. So I don't see that happening. I also don't know if I would call it unintended when it's been around and unchanged for this long. It also used to trigger JoL a long time ago and they only removed that. Which implies that the JoW interaction is intended. They also added bolt ring in Gilneas and I don't see any reason for that to exist other than for Paladins.Gantulga wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 8:14 pmI'd rather they removed this obviously unintended interaction and gave them proper mana recovery through talents.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
They did actually. OoC procs off spells and they have baseline -20% mana cost in moonkin form, on top of moonglow. Balance druid doesn't really have any mana issues now.
They could very well do the same for paladins and enhancement shamans.
Them allowing those damage effects to work with JoW is just a bandaid "fix" as they keep beating around the bush. It's obviously not intended or intuitive from the beginning but they let it slide as it's the only working option right now.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
I was referring more to Ferals and powershifting as that also required 1 specific item to sustain. Seemed like a more 1:1 comparison. But either way, I agree. There should be a way to sustain through talents and abilities instead of being required to kneecap yourself in gear. It's dumb.Gantulga wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 8:34 pmThey did actually. edit: I'm not disagreeing with you but choosing to keep it and do nothing about it is still intent.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Will it be released with patch 1.17.1, or sooner?
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
When are we getting this new sets? can we know stats and set bonuses please? (warrior)
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
approximately when the new sets comes? Like we talking 1-2 month or longer.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
I'm so hyped for this, I can't wait!
Regarding the recolors, a lot of the set pieces have recolored version from TBC, maybe they could be reused if it will save time / budget? They look good too, on retail I used to sport them as transmogs, they're one of my favorites.

Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
Judging by twow artificial class changes these new sets wont be weaker than default ones, just hybrid counter part.
That means already strong hybrids (due to artificial changes) will be even stronger
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
I recall item devs stating that those sets will have close to no stamina. Basically glass cannon sets.
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
What about SL / Affliction Lock set buffs?
Why buff only Destro? O.o

Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
When can we expect this mid patch?
Re: Alternative Tier Sets & Midpatch Itemization Changes
But what the point to play destro lock with almsot zero stamina when u can use default t3 lock set.Gantulga wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 6:07 pmI recall item devs stating that those sets will have close to no stamina. Basically glass cannon sets.
I highly doubt set bonuses will outweight that.
Re: Alternative tier sets & midpatch itemization changes
On alliance there are some people interested in a Smite Priest. I think that they have to do a Smite Set. Its perfect to do that with some heal aspect. I hope the t2.5 can match the shadow t3 with a nice complete set bonus.
