newb question about raid lock

Im new to this game and im rly confused about the raid lock that i read online. For example, if i do MC raid in the week and finished the last boss, i cannot join any MC raid anymore for the rest of the week, or i can join but will not be able to loot any items?

When you kill a boss in a raid, you get locked to this raid ID.
Until the lock is released (until the raid resets), you can't enter any other raid instance of this type.

In short: you can't enter the instance for which you are locked, at all.

If you are not bound to a raid ID you will always enter the same instance as your raid leader.
As soon as you kill any boss you will bind to that specific raid ID.
Until the reset, whenever you enter the instance portal you will arrive in the same ID where you've already killed (at least) a boss. Even if the rest of group goes to a new instance because they are not bound, you alone will spawn in your old instance. If you are raid lead and the rest of the group is not bound, they will join your ID.

So if you've already killed Ragnaros, for the rest of the week you can only enter that specific MC with no bosses left.
