'Broken world' - The lore

Post by Remmo87 » Sat Feb 11, 2023 12:27 am

Hello friends.

First I want to tell a little bit of my RL background.
I am a 35 year old dad. 2 kids and a wife. We live in the countryside.
A big place with some animals and a vegetable garden.
I started playing wow back in Vanilla days. I was never really good at it back then.
I tried to become good at the actual mechanics in PVP, but somehow it just didn't really work for me.
Not for a long time.
By the time WotLK was halfway through, I was decently good, but I realized I missed something.
Something I haven't realized before that I enjoyed so much.
The slow pace of Vanilla, and that Vanilla lore. It struck me that that was actually what made me love the game.
It was gone. At least for a good amount of years.

When classic was re-released I was stoked. I played that for as long as I could before TBC came.
It didn't get me as far as I wanted. With 2 very small kids and a big place, I could only "afford" 1 gaming night a week, and TBC was released way early for me.

Now just a month ago I discovered this great place. Kids are a little older now and dad life is not as exhausting as it has been. I play 2-3 nights a week now.
By following you guys' lore posts here, and as I'm getting more into the lore myself, I realized I should try something I hadn't before.
I thought of an idea to connect the stories of my 2 characters.
I want to write a lore story about it, to make my experience on here more immersive.
I have a SC Undead Warlock and a HC Human Paladin.

Disclaimer: I have never written anything before, except for non-fictional school related essays.
I will most possibly be making a lot of newbie writing mistakes that will make my read more tedious than
the average story. If you stuck around this long, maybe it wont bother you that much.
My native language is not English. There will be grammatical flaws.

I want to just get going here, and then with time, build more on top as I gain levels and ideas along the way.
This is just an overall baseline, and will be a summarization to begin with.

Here goes nothing...

REMMO - Immortal Undead Warlock

For now I want to make a long story short.
The story of how I got from weak... to immortal.
Of how I now behold powers of unimaginable fortune.
It's the story of how I became rid of that filthy little coward... my so-called “son”...
I was once named Frederik. My former son named Alfrederik after me.

…son of a dirty whore is what he is. Too damn “clever” to eat from the grain!?
I EARNED THAT GRAIN FOR US!
I PROVIDED FOR MY FAMILY!
Those long nights when we were starving. Had been starving for weeks.
…Poor Tilda… She’d been so sick the last few days.
Just lying there in bed, moaning and sometimes passed out from exhaustion.
We had nothing. Nothing but the rat scat and the muddy water.
Oh, the day when I heard that a batch of grain was arriving from Stratholme.
And I got that job! That blessed Wednesday. It was enough to earn a few copper for grain.
I... I was so proud when I walked home with that grain.

AND THAT LITTLE TWAT OF AN AMOEBA TELLS ME WE CAN’T EAT IT!?
THAT HE HEARD RUMORS IT WAS SOMEHOW INFECTED?
EVEN HAS HIS DYING MOM CONVINCED SHE CAN’T EAT IT EITHER?

Well look at me now! I’m relieved I ate it!
It's what gave my good standing with the strong side.
WITH POWERS BEYOND HIS UNDERSTANDING!!!!
I am immortal. Adapted the ways of the Warlock. Flesh that cannot die.
It died once. And now it's…. Undead!!!! My undead flesh!!!

MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

He’s not my son anymore. Luckily. And I bear no resemblance to his name.
My new family named me Remmo. Apparently means “rotting” in some old foreign language.

*Goes quiet and looks down into his lab*

…I'll never forget his look. That broken look of his eyes when I came back to that house…
I slew his almost dead mother in front of him. I'll never forget the smell of her burned body.

*Breaks out crying, quietly*

ALFREDERIK - Mortal Human Paladin

Hello friends.
My name is Alfrederik. I am a student of the ways of the Paladin.
I'm here to share my story.

My dad ate from the grain from Stratholme. That's right.
He’s not my father anymore...
He’s not the mighty holy paladin I once looked up to.
He’s an evil Warlock now. Too evil for this earth...
Oh how he scorched my dear mother in front of me.
I’ll never forget his laughter on top of her screaming pain….

*breaks out crying, loudly*
If you made it this far, thank you very much.
Constructive criticism, tips, tricks and ideas are all greatly appreciated.

You think you do, but perhaps maybe 100% you don't not do.
Or... some of you might actually perhaps most surely do actually anyway, still.

We need more like this. That is a good write , friend.
By the way, i think you can post roleplay stuff like that in Dancing Murloc Inn section. I have seen ppl post character's background and their stories at there from time to time

Thank you so much. That's very kind.
You're right about the placement of the thread.
Perhaps a mod could move it to Dancing Murloc Inn?

EDIT: Thank you, Tinyfin smiling_turtle_head
