Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
WOTLK was THE BEST WoW expansion ever and retail went downhill after that .... TBC wasn't enough of a divergence from Vanilla / Classic to make it special . The ONLY two WoW expansions I like are Classic and Wrath .Fugus wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:39 pmI understand that Turtle WoW has no plans on opening a server on the superior TBC setup. But you are wrong, it was not cringe, mechanically it was superior to classic.Reploidrocsa wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 3:26 pmWrong.
It was and it's still cringe. Twow has no plans for TBC.

Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
There are too many posts that are asking for changes that basically turn TW into another version of retail , 99% of people play TW because it's WoW 1.12 and DO NOT want quality of life stuff other than that provided by addons . Turtle as it is is a winning formula and it shouldn't be messed with other than the graphical fidelity provided by Unreal Engine 5 .

if this was true then everyone playing vanilla is low iq for always repeating the same stuff, and making apes looks smarter than them, which is true for everyone always getting the same gear.Oldfartphil wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 4:59 pm There are too many posts that are asking for changes that basically turn TW into another version of retail , 99% of people play TW because it's WoW 1.12 and DO NOT want quality of life stuff other than that provided by addons . Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Just saw the the 1.18 video. The lighting on the characters doesn't really look like 1.18 to me, maybe the footage was captured in UE5 client in classic mode?

Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
My 2 cents for linux support.
Besides I'm running Twow smoothly under Steam and proton, I wouldn't like to be in the situation where a major update (i.e. Unreal 5 engine) breaks all.
BTW... any eta on engine 5? :D

You are disingenuous and ill mannered and rude ,I'm 69 years old and worked for 50 years before retirement in 2022 . I'm an ex British Soldier and Police Officer ..... People like Classic WoW because it is CHALLENGING , players like you want to have training wheels to make the game easy enough for you to be able to play it .......Bittermens wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 5:21 pmif this was true then everyone playing vanilla is low iq for always repeating the same stuff, and making apes looks smarter than them, which is true for everyone always getting the same gear.Oldfartphil wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 4:59 pm There are too many posts that are asking for changes that basically turn TW into another version of retail , 99% of people play TW because it's WoW 1.12 and DO NOT want quality of life stuff other than that provided by addons . Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
after being burned recently by multiple UE5 released games that have run like shit (even runescape dragonwilds, which should not be that intensive at all) i hope to high hell that this runs okay on amd cards. ue5 doesnt play nicely with amd at all. and my experiences are that games become either 1) unplayable fps but good graphics 2) potato graphics from 1999 and playable frame rate
and my pc can run cyberpunk on ultra at 70-80 fps. so its just unreal being optimised terribly

Looks amazing! Would love to see native Mac support for this!
Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
This is just implementation of new rendering technology, not new assets. The size change should be fairly minor. Maybe a few gigs if UE5 has anything preloaded.Bittermens wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:08 am So, i hope this game doesn't exceeds 125gb as oblivion remastered
Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Is this just a visual upgrade with the same crappy 1.12 client or a real game engine upgrade, Classic / Retail one, where we can use newer addons and macros ?
Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
As of now, we know it will be an overhaul on Unreal 5 engine (read shadows improvement, textures, HD models toggle etc.), supporting 1.12/1.13 addons and so on. I am sure that twow team will release it once they're sure it satisfies all quality checks.Laysson wrote: Sat May 10, 2025 8:42 am Is this just a visual upgrade with the same crappy 1.12 client or a real game engine upgrade, Classic / Retail one, where we can use newer addons and macros ?

Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
I have a question: will there be new translations for the existing languages with this unreal engine business? I read in the forums the translations are made using AI and though it does a very good job some things are not quite well translated.
Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Absolutely voicing my support for Mac/Linux native versions. I would love a version that isn’t dependent on either questionable emulation software or a third-party server being in stable condition.

Also interested in a Linux version, don't want to lose a hardcore character to an emulation crash

Then by your flawed logic, people who play chess are low IQ. Except people who play chess have higher IQ than normal and those who are really good go to tournaments and win lots of money. No two chess games are ever the same. No two Vanilla runs are the same either. You are simplifying, generalizing and judging when you don't have the authority to do that.Bittermens wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 5:21 pmif this was true then everyone playing vanilla is low iq for always repeating the same stuff, and making apes looks smarter than them, which is true for everyone always getting the same gear.Oldfartphil wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 4:59 pm There are too many posts that are asking for changes that basically turn TW into another version of retail , 99% of people play TW because it's WoW 1.12 and DO NOT want quality of life stuff other than that provided by addons . And he is right about abstaining from changes to the game after UE5. There is no need to turn it into a funserver where you can play as a Murloc Kitchen Chef.
Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
do you not understand that porting takes an incredible amount of time? No thanks, I'd rather have updated TW content/UE5 than it work for maximum 5% of users (on the high end).Boristus wrote: Mon May 19, 2025 8:54 pm Absolutely voicing my support for Mac/Linux native versions. Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
yes and no. it depends on how optimized the triangle counts are. if they were auto-implemented then it will run like booty. However, i have a 5900x overclocked and still cannot run WoW with multiple HD patches at a current framerate-and its not limited by my 4070. ue5 is garbage in most games because it is too easy to have ridiculous geometry for even something simple because of lazy implementing-and judging by whats posted it doesnt seem very complicated. ue5 doesnt really deserve the hate its just lazy development-ue5 gives you too much power basicallysithi wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 4:50 am after being burned recently by multiple UE5 released games that have run like shit (even runescape dragonwilds, which should not be that intensive at all) i hope to high hell that this runs okay on amd cards. ue5 doesnt play nicely with amd at all. and my experiences are that games become either 1) unplayable fps but good graphics 2) potato graphics from 1999 and playable frame rate

Turn off DXVK, and use fullscreen windowed mode and triple buffering, i get 120+fps everywhere except main cities using a 3060 laptop gpumunted wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 1:23 amyes and no. it depends on how optimized the triangle counts are. if they were auto-implemented then it will run like booty. I Am Altering the HD Mod, Pray I Don’t Alter It Any Further.
Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Voicing my request for native Linux support as well.
Currently running Bazzite, which is a Fedora-based distro, but I'll probably switch back to CachyOS (Arch-based) or SteamOS (Arch-based) to be able install NordVPN, which is necessary to play TurtleWoW where I live.
Last time I played Turtle WoW and forgot to turn on my VPN, I got a nastygram from my ISP within hours.
Thank you dev team! I am beyond excited for Unreal Engine 5 and Turtle WoW 2.0!

Do we know what UE5 version is being used? There are drastic performance differences between different versions.

Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Is there any info about a reworked UI or something similar?
Actually want to rework (HD textures, some modern retail UI frames) the UI but makes no sense if this is already a part of the UE5 Client.
PS: Already know about Dragonflight UI addosns etc.

2.0 was always schedueled for very late 2025 when announced.Crimson957 wrote: Fri Jun 20, 2025 2:33 pm Is there any update On this. i haven't seen anything official mentioning Turtle WoW 2.0 since like Feb of this year.... its supposed to be released this year... but there has not really been any mention of it
Look at the new roadmap. We get 1.18 soon, then there will another huge content patch 1.19 which surely will take at least half a year. So to be realsitic and what the graphic indicates is that 2.0 is more of an early to mid 2026 release atm.

Re: Turtle WoW 2.0 — Powered by Unreal Engine 5
I used to be a loyal fan of Dota. After making various changes to Dota 2 that made me unable to play anymore, I still returned to playing Dota 6.83V on War3 on various gaming platforms. I understand that TWOW is facing a similar situation as DOTA, but I hope that TWOW should be slow and steady like a turtle. Don't forget your original intention. Why players come so why they leave.
