We can confirm that in original Warcraft III and WoW games (before TBC got on media), all elven characters, including Malfurion, Kael'thas and blood elves in Sun Rock Retreat and Azshara have glowing white/yellowish eyes and in games prior to WoW, elves' eyes are monochrome without visible pupils. It was only since the release of TBC, blood elves have been depicted with green eyes.
If we agree that Turtle WoW sticks on old lore and games, "blood elves with evil green eyes" shouldn't be taken as a stereotype again. In other words, blood elf green eyes can exist but only on a proportion of blood elves as a random feature.
Should green eyes be considered a blood elf racial trait?
Should green eyes be considered a blood elf racial trait?
Two of my concerns.
1. Making draeneis relatives of eredars was Blizzard's overexploitation to the lore.
2. It can't be more explicit that Illidan, as an archetypal villain, dies in The Frozen Throne.

Re: Should green eyes be considered a blood elf racial trait?
Wrong. Elves in Warcraft 3 had pupils in their eyes. KaelThas's model is bugged. Its texture has pupils, but the model is not showing them by mistake (trust me I spent over a decade by modding Warcraft 3). The priest units and such all have pupils as well.
Only exception being Spellbreaker, thats a weird one.
Also, keep in mind that Blood elves in Warcraft 3 are actually High Elves who call themselves Blood elves. They did not yet accept fel and demons power. So there is no reason for them to be changed by it.
If it was on me, and it fortunately isnt, I would stick with even more agressive green eyes as they are described in Night of the Dragon novel.

Blizzard's later retcons and new designs have been destructive to the original lore.Luther wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 8:40 am Wrong. Elves in Warcraft 3 had pupils in their eyes.
