Emerald Sanctum Hard Mode Advice

Post by Maximan » Fri May 09, 2025 8:40 am

Is anyone able to help me with some general advice for ES hard mode? I run it for my guild and some weeks it goes fine, others it seems impossible. I can't figure out what we're doing wrong on the off weeks. People I ask all give me conflicting information. You can dispel 1 of Erenius' sleeps safely. You can't dispel anything. Erenius uses LoS. LoS doesn't matter, only range.

Last time I was 80 yards away from Erenius and still got put to sleep while healing the healers on Erenius' tank. I've been told that I was probably too close to Solinus and that he probably slept me, while also being told he can't sleep!

At the moment the way I plan it is this:

1 tank on Erenius - 3 healers on that tank at max range - 1 healer on those healers at max range

Everyone on else on Solinus same as normal mode.

Our tank and healers have good enough gear that threat or healing isn't a problem. But even when the tank is the only person within 40 yards of Erenius, he's still getting put to sleep, which eventually means he loses threat to a healer in the Solinus group and Erenius goes wandering off. So there is obviously something I'm not aware of that's preventing us doing this successfully and I'd be very appreciative if anyone could advise :)

Here is how our guild does it.

Positioning:
B= boss
T= Tank
H= Heal
M = Melee
R = Ranged

B T< - 40 yards- > 3H <- 10 yards -> H&R <- 20 yards-> M B T
We put the addtank & healers into a separate grp. That makes it easy for them to heal the tank and one another (preferably always a druid, priest and shaman healer + a warrior tank for dealing with erennius)
Line of sight used to matter but i think it got patched, we stopped losing since it didnt seem to help us consistently and people kept getting slept eitherway. We found everyone but the addtank being in the main raids healers range helped more in peventing sleep deaths than trying to be cute with los.

There are some debuffs that are conditionally worth removing. The manadrain curses can be removed from tree druids. And the sleep the adds cast can be removed without issue. But due to the risk generally associated with dispelling. My advice as raidleader is, drop tremor totem and dont dispell anything. If the wrong stuff gets dispelled its much more devastating.

Make sure the melees stand at max melee range fanned out in the back half of the boss. He has a nasty aoe that he casts on random players in melee. It deals way too much damage if your melees clump.

Keep detect magic on the boss and ask a offensive shaman or piest to purge the buff that looks like the goblin shrink ray debuff (a blue bolt facing bottom left)

In the addphase let a pally pick up welps and ignore them. Burn down the elite adds. Focus spellcasters and leave scalebane for last.
Only bomb adds once all 3 elites are down.

Keep 2 tanks on the main boss that race for theeat until he transforms. The tank that gets booted off tried to climb up back into second place, but thats only needed i the MT eats too many breaths in p3 and shouldnt be an issue unless your grps dps is atroceous

With that we have little problems consistently killing him

Thank you very much for the reply. I'll make a note of this and try it next week :)

We really don't have any trouble with Solinus at all. The issue last time was that the tank on Erenius kept getting put to sleep and so did I (meaning healers started dying).
