After many GM discussions, it turned out there is absolutely now way to change a weaponsmith specialization (from Swordsmith to Axesmith in my case), even if I dropped blacksmithing completely and took it up again, skilled it up to 300 again, done the weaponsmith and axesmith quests again. The client won't allow me to have any other specialization other than what my first choice was when I first took up blacksmithing.
Please consider implementing a way to allow people to change weaponsmith specializations, even if it takes them to drop blacksmithing and then retaking it. I am frustrated because I really wanted to make sure that I follow the dumb-dumb way and drop the profession, but it still did not help.
Thank you for your consideration!
You can find me in-game (character in question) as Swarovski on Tel'abim.

Just to be 100%, since it wasn't mentioned but I'm assuming here, you used the Soothsaying for Dummies book by Narian in Tanaris, right? I was able to change from Gnomish Engineering to Goblin Engineering in this way, also on Tel'abim.

No I haven't and one of the GMs confirmed, that while that method worked with engineering and leatherworking, no such system was implemented back in the vanilla days for blacksmithing specializations.
