New AV meta discovered

Post by Zvyrhol » Sun Mar 09, 2025 3:32 pm

One week ago devs finally fixed one custom quest that is obtainable in Alterac Valley. Before the update, this quest actually didn't work properly: it could be completed only once.

  • Korrak the Everliving and The Return of Korrak are now repeatable quests. However, the Skull of Korrak is no longer a party drop.

The quest can be taken from Warmaster Laggrond or Lieutenant Haggerdin in your faction's base in AV. Your objective is to kill Korrak the Bloodrager and loot his skull. However, skull can be picked up only by one random player near Korrak. If you are the only player with the quest, you will have 100% drop chance.
It's important to have debuff applied when Korrak dies near you. This debuff is essential to properly perform the ritual in the future. It has blood icon and 1 hour duration.
When you obtain the Skull of Korrak, go back to your base and turn it in to the quest giver. Then, you will receive [Winterax Ritual Dagger]

Winterax Ritual Dagger is the item you can click to perform the ritual. You must have the debuff on you - otherwise the ritual won't work. When you click it, it should do 2 things based on your combat status:

1) if you are out of combat:
  • You die. Everyone in your team in AV receives the summon to the place you are in.
2) if you are in combat:
  • You die. Everyone close to you gets 300% damage buff and movement speed bonus for one minute.
This video is self-explanatory why I think this item becomes the new meta in AV.

As you can see the carrier of the Winterax Ritual Dagger can possibly summon everyone to the last graveyard and end the game in next 10 minutes.

I dont understand why turtle scrubs care so much about av... actual good pvpers hate the bg and want to see it removed... so why do so many turtle noobs spend so long caring and thinking about a bg that has so little pvp that it can barely be consuderd a bg.

Simply because AV is the only relevant PvP rep for PvE

AV is fun. You can be decent at pvp and still enjoy giant battles, you know.
