Question about gathering etiquette

Post by Glimbo » Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:19 pm

Hi,

i've been leveling mining on my current character and i dont understand the mining etiquette. when i start mining a node occasionally somebody else will join which results in us sharing the vein. i dont mind since that way we both get a skillpoint.

however ive had people insult me for doing the same thing unhappy_turtle_head effectively them claiming the whole vein for themselves because they got there a few seconds before i did.

what gives?

Only the first hit gives skill points.
If someone is on a vein, stay the fiddlesticks away.

The retail mentality of "everything is mine, even if it's yours" is infectious and needs to be pushed away.

If you got to the node first, just shift-click and sit there until they go away.

Share the taps for pre-300 nodes so everyone gets a skill up. Anyone who complains is a dweebus, call them that verbatim.

Endgame nodes are fair game.

I would just mine the vein and wait until the player goes away. People can't mine from what I remember if you don't loot it yet.

Sharing skill would be nice but we all know it will just end with me having 1 mithril ore and they having 3. I'll wear my dweebus t-shirt with pride, thank you.

When someone is already mining a node I'll just tap it for the skill point without actually looting it, that way the player who got to it first gets the full loot but I still get a skill point. Everybody wins !
