Best class for solo?
Best class for solo?
Hello, everyone!
I used to play Vanilla WoW a long time ago, and now I’d like to start playing on Turtle WoW. I’m trying to choose a character class, but the changes on this server are so extensive that it seems easier to ask more experienced players here for advice.
I’d like to farm gold and complete content solo as much as possible (dungeons, elite quests etc).
Which class on Turtle WoW would suit me best?

1. Fast lvling, killing elites, questing and fast farming till 40 is 100% Hunter.Niefalt wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 11:38 am Hello, everyone!

2. AoE farming after you get some decent gear it is 100% Mage
3. Shamans, Paladins and Druids are Jacks of all trades. Basically you can do anything you want and having a lot of good tools to use.
4. Rogue is for experienced players, yet it is easier to play there + has also a lot of tricks + burst and cc abilities.
5. Warrior is a bit better there, but also not the best class to start with
6. Priest is easy and boring class TBH, if you don't put self into risks.
7. Warlock is pretty strong there also, yet mana hungry, so think a lot before rushing somewhere. Yet at low lvls it is pretty strong, while on higher lvls still great toolkit.
Re: Best class for solo?
no, mage is significantly faster than hunter due to aoe leveling. 50 to 60 on mage can be done in a few hours in dme. you don't need blizzard to aoe level.

2 you don't need any gear to aoe farm on mage in dme. Go in as fresh 60 get 100g+/h
3 shaman is either dps or healer. The tank spec is only really played while leveling or in dungeons at 60
4 rogue does pisspoor burst compared to other classes like ele, arcane mage, ...

Play what you have fun playing. Best advice. Druid, Pally, and Shaman can kind of do it all.

Re: Best class for solo?
Hunter is by far the best class at taking on group content alone due to its pet, myriad of crowd control, ability to kite, and ability to do all of that even when it runs out of mana. Any single elite with no ranged attack is a no brainer in an open space since you can hold aggro with Distracting Shot, kite with Cheetah and Conc Shot, and eventualy kill it with autoshots and pet damage.
Hunter also has the tools to split packs: pull the pack with a shot, and have your pet attack your desired target once it's far enough from its spawn point, then Feign Death. Pack will reset, but not the one held by your pet. Congrats ! You can now solo that mob.
With threat control and frost / freezing trap, you can even solo pairs of elites by kiting and controling one while killing the other.
Of course there are multiple good answers to your question: Druid can solo any elite by slooooooowly killing it with Entangling Roots damage but that is very very boring.

Re: Best class for solo?
Shout out to the one person or two that said something about Warlocks. Locks are also a great choice for soloing, you've got your pet (void) or other demons based on the situation. Healthstones for that free health potion, drain mana or mana tap if you need mana, not your typical rez ability but soulstone can definitely help...just being a range class in general with upper edge to be a certain distance away from the mob instead up in your face taking a crit potentially. You get a free mount at lvl 40 compared to classes who have to grind that gold to get one. So, just having that mount right at lvl 40 will help with leveling faster since you won't be walking everywhere. There's way much more to add but you get the gist of it.Niefalt wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 11:38 am Hello, everyone!

Just a note that anyone can get a mount at lvl 18 without much hassle/money.Snipesta wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 6:28 pm Shout out to the one person or two that said something about Warlocks. All mounts have the same speed in turtle wow, what matters is your riding skill.Snipesta wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 7:13 pmis it 60% speed?Sunken wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 7:09 pmJust a note that anyone can get a mount at lvl 18 without much hassle/money.Snipesta wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 6:28 pm Shout out to the one person or two that said something about Warlocks. If you don't have riding, they have roughly (lvl / 2)% speed increase.

Re: Best class for solo?
So many mages have done 1-60 on hc without dying...Dude is wrong, blizzard can be resisted, but its irrelevent. Also you dont use blizzard while leveling, and if 1 or 2 mobs do resist your cone of cold, you have ice armor to kite them. If you cant figure out how to aoe farm on a mage, you shouldnt be giving an opinion on anything as you are a moron.Steakhouse wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 10:21 pm You can hit a level 60 mob with Blizzard as a level 25 mage ???
Re: Best class for solo?
For general leveling, I think all classes can work with solo, some will be, of course much easier.
So far I've played a Paladin and a Warlock on this server and they feel pretty easy. Mage is the one that has always been known to farm the easiest, but I don't think you can solo dungeons on your own, unless you are 10-15 levels above. At higher levels, you won't be able to solo and will need to join a group eventually.

Re: Best class for solo?
The question isn't "are mages able to hit 60 in HC" (which isn't a question as every class can) the question is "best class for solo." My personal opinion on the matter is that it's Hunter. I am not trying to imply anything else.amanagor wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 7:56 amSo many mages have done 1-60 on hc without dying...Dude is wrong, blizzard can be resisted, but its irrelevent. Re: Best class for solo?
At high skill level, mage outperforms hunter for solo content. If you are a 50 iq monkey, then sure hunter is better.Steakhouse wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 9:14 pmThe question isn't "are mages able to hit 60 in HC" (which isn't a question as every class can) the question is "best class for solo." Re: Best class for solo?
100% hunter, but after LvL 10
As a newbie hunter don't forget to do the following :
Kill your party in a dungeon by -->
- jumping from a cliff and pulling everything with your pet
- multishot everything, "wake up" cc targets etc
- pull before your tank
- disregard mp breaks
Also, don't forget to -->
- Roll need for every item
- post your dmg
- feel superior
Re: Best class for solo?
I've played Vanilla Hunter for many years between 2013 and 2018 and I don't know if there is much micromanagement. If we're talking from the standpoint of the OP wanting to solo stuff, whether you go for Warlock or Hunter, it's the same level of management. All you really have to do is keep your pet/minion alive and make sure you don't steal aggro from it.

Re: Best class for solo?
Hunters can solo Naxx Trash, good luck with that as a Mage

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1cUkxY ... re_video.2
Hunter positioning + Pet positioning + Deadzone + Fire/Reload timing + Hunter abilities (variable depending on your attack speed and timing) + Pet abilities + Pet caring + FD Trinket Swaps + FD Traps and more... You never played Hunter to min-max the class if you think there is no micromanagement. There is a whole microcosm around Auto Shoot.
Re: Best class for solo?
Ability ranks are a thing. Warlocks don't need to look up a spreadsheet for every pet and where you get every new rank of something they can do, 'cause they just like- buy books from a trainer to teach their pets. Warlock pets don't need to be fed, and they don't need to be trained either. Quite different levels of management.Allwynd01 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 6:54 pmI've played Vanilla Hunter for many years between 2013 and 2018 and I don't know if there is much micromanagement. Elmhoof - 60 Boomkin
Tacheka - 41 Melee hunter (Planned secondary main)
Anbone - 36 Shadow Priest (Idk what I'm doing with him)
The laser chicken called to me. And so I answered.

As a leveling hunter all you have to do is send pet + auto shoot and u can reach 60 with minimum effort
Nobody asked how Hunter is at end game or while min-maxing the class (or at least he didn't clarify it)
Maybe, just maybe
you should clarify that you want to min max etc
