A guild as a safe place?

Post by Rhyyn » Tue Jan 07, 2025 11:29 pm

Hey there! I just returned to playing WoW and really enjoy it. But I’m annoyed of the some of the sexist comments in the World-Chat and also in some Guild-Channels. Therefore, to just enjoy my rare time in the game, I was thinking of founding a guild as a safe/safer space for anyone, who feels similar. The guild should be open for every playstyle (hardcore/normal/slow), every fraction, class, race and gender, ofc. ;)

This is not meant to reproduce political fights of the real world in the game world, not at all, but rather to just escape excisting sexism. That’s it.

So, who would be down to found such a guild? Or is there even a similar guild already?

(If you don’t like the idea, please don’t feel triggered, just ignore this post and please please please avoid hate-speech in this thread, thanks!)

My issue is, that I’m a very causal player and therefore need some more active and interested gamers around me to found and lead the guild forward.

First name ideas:
<Durotar Leveling Union>
<Durotar Raiding Union>
<Anarchy>
<Gramsci Gang>

Greetings, friends! <3

i wouldn't start a guild if i did not have time to fully commit to it, if i were you. Generally, the GM should be among the most active players in any guild, but especially so in a new one.

Perhaps check the official discord guild recruitment channel. There's a few guilds that are friendlier and a bit more careful with jokes. I recommend also checking the roleplay section guild recruitment. these guilds tend to have good people in them and if you are open to roleplaying they will be more than happy to teach you.

good luck.

True. Women are overall better. No need to brag, though.

As for OP, there are several guilds that offer save spaces for anyone, in case you don't want to make your own. Good luck!

Just give the guy what he wants. I have no idea what's going on in his life etc and this server def has some PC guilds.
We're not here to judge, let's hope the guy finds an okay community for himself.

Please ignore all the "the world/internet isn't a safe space" so we should "get used to it". I'm paraphrasing, btw, for all the literalist pedantry that's sure to follow. We all crave safe spaces....whether that be at home, in the arms of a loved one, friends at school, or yes...even in game. Even the "free speech" guilds crave a place where they can safely spew their hate. There's nothing wrong with the user seeking a safe guild to call home where they don't have to put up with adult-children who haven't quite gotten past their "teehee" phase.

Please stop telling the OP they're wrong. They have an opinion/point of view as we all do. As the saying goes "opinions are like assholes...we all have one and they all stink"....make sure your assholes are wiped clean rather than sniffing around others. In other words, worry about yourself. The user asked for something specific and half the comments here are "what you're asking for is wrong".

Y'all really out here proving OP's point, huh?

Anyways, I'm sure you could advertise in world chat and start putting something together. I'm already in a couple guilds and quite frankly I don't have the time to commit to even one of them, so it's safe to say I'm not very interested, but- hopefully someone will be? The rage baiters and world chat trolls are a pretty loud minority in my experience. Most people tend to be pretty chill.
Elmhoof - 60 Boomkin
Tacheka - 41 Melee hunter (Planned secondary main)
Anbone - 36 Shadow Priest (Idk what I'm doing with him)

The laser chicken called to me. And so I answered.

I think nerds of a feather has this as a baseline policy for lgbtq people or something to that effect.
Im sure you can find them if you search the forum or in game.

Have always had worldchat turned off since the lfg spam is annoying.

Exactly, perspective. If you read the OP's post, it clearly is not what they are looking for. You're trying to bait them. That's troll behavior.

Darktifa is hilarious calling me a troll. Today is the biggest troll on the forums. All you have to do is look at their history of "helpful" posts.
