I really appreciate your work, this patch is awesome! :)

one bit of feedback - would you consider switching the nightsaber models to the BFA nightsaber models instead of the tiger ones? I think it'd look way more appropriate.

I take patch A and delete "Spells.dbc" and "ItemDisplayInfo.dbc" within the DBFilesClient folder, and everything Character>Tauren>Male folder, as I was getting crashes trying to load male tauren characters.

A little something mod works, talent trees work, updated HD mounts work and I can see the new tmogs from the event and new world bosses. I haven't seen any bald freaks around either so that's probably fixed as well.
Could you upload your version somewhere? Not because I'm lazy, but unfortunately I can't download the MPQ editor because the system indicates a virus. And unfortunately, the spells.dbc in the "D4rcy version Patch-A" are included. For example, if a mage casts flamestrike, the game almost freezes, I get 15-20 fps. Thank you in advance for your help.

I suspect the reason OP didn't upload it is because they realized it was still buggy.
I made the changes as suggested and balding was still an issue, as were crashes, though much less frequent.
I have since found that the balding issues have something to do with the facialhair/charvariations.dbc files inside the DBFilesClient folder and have made some changes but i believe the issue goes much deeper than that and is probably nested in files split throughout the MPQ.
None the less I am still working on it, this version seems to be much more stable but has weird facial markings for night elfs and still the occasional bald player but its much much better than it was.

Here is a link to the version discussed. I will upload more if i make progress:

Do these updates also fix missing items from the fashion event? I have a top hat that is invisible and a ? in the inventory.

Either way, thanks for posting this!

Update:
This fix seems to have resolved the missing top hat, but now high elf ears have no texture and night elves have some strange facial textures. dead_turtle_head

Honestly I just rarely check forum but you aren't wrong, I'm just testing myself and yeah noticed the same some of the hair models still don't work. I don't really get crashing though, the thing that seems to crash my game the most is super macros for some reason. I just wanted something functional for me that worked until another version (made by someone who knows what they are doing) comes out.

Hi there,
new turtle player
2-3 weeks in game so far so good

i discovered you could add mods.

I tried this with a couple of others (and without a couple of others) to see what it looks in game

I tried to login at wetlands twice, no issues (i stayed manethil)
I tried to login at SW in a crowded city 5-6 times :

This application has encountered a critical error:

ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception
Program: C:\turtle\WoW.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 0023:00713E26

The instruction at "0x00713E26" referenced memory at "0xBC8AC8F2".
The memory could not be "read".

(It worked once though)

I took the package from there
viewtopic.php?t=15671
where the OP says :
"I DID NOT CREATE THESE MODS I JUST EDITED THE HD MOD SO THEY WOULD WORK WITH THE CURRENT UPDATE ALL ORIGINAL LINKS ARE BELOW."

I saw the 1st post here also, stating it doesn't work with new patch, but have things changed recently, and could someone help here ?

it's a wonderfull mod

no disrespect intended but you should read the last few pages of this thread. the version of this mod you are referring to on that thread is, just like all of these, out of date and does not work correctly. we are all still searching for a solution.
Unfortunately, it only takes one douchebag to ruin it for everyone else waiting patiently for OP to tirelessly fix what they didnt break.

Could anyone tell me what texture file in a MPQ (Patch A) is directly related to Instance Portal texture? I have a feeling deleting that file would fix any Green Portal instance texture bugs we're all experiencing

I actually have deleted it from my MPQ and that did indeed fix instance portals, but I can't remember which file it was. It was named kinda obviously though, try searching for "instance" or "portal" in the mpq editor. I'll see which one it was when I get home.

EDIT: Found it, it's in World/Generic/Activedoodads/InstancePortal smiling_turtle_head

On a somewhat unrelated note, I am interested in making my own custom model MPQ mods for vanilla, but struggle finding good resources, tools and tutorials that aren't 15 years old with expired links and whatnot. Is there a dedicated discord or reddit community for vanilla modding, where I could get help from people with experience in modding vanilla game files?
Nydas - 60 High Elf Mage (Nordanaar)
Farren - 60 Tauren Shaman (Nordanaar)
Gothric - 24 Human Paladin (Nordanaar)
Corel - 30 Night Elf Druid (Nordanaar)
Markal - 58 Undead Priest (Tel'Abim)

Thanks man, that was the fix :)! Now to try and figure out why the Deadmines NPC's on the Zanzil Mixture side were Blue and White Checkered boxes T__T lol Any ideas?
Also a discord or something with TWoW Modders would be amazing, please lmk if you find such a thing!

EDIT: Defias Mixologist in Deadmines is blue/white checkered boxes / New Boss: Jared Voss is blue/white checkered box.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated !

hi all! I spent the last three days collecting fixes from different players and combining them into one working patch. According to the tests, this patch works well, however, some hairstyles will not display as they should on the turtle. (But you won't see any bald players!)
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing
It's far from perfect, but it works. I did the best I could. Please let me know if you find any errors.

More mount fixes. Merged patch W (previously required for new water texture) and patch B (after installing new patch B, you can remove patch W).
Edited and added a new patch (found it on the forum at the link: viewtopic.php?t=14319, many thanks to the author) should be compatible with the current patch A

Due to the current state of Turtle WoW in 1.17.2 and, I presume, onward, I have quit playing the game. While a number of great changes were made to classes in talent trees and even core abilities (Beast Mastery Hunter, Fire Mage, Assassination Rogue), a number of decisions were made that were grossly out of touch with the core virtues of subtle, yet elegant tweaks to the existing vanilla design philosophy. I can no longer motivate myself to play a game that seems to be moving further away from the simple, slightly archaic, yet elegant model of vanilla WoW towards a more streamlined, retail-esque product.

As such, I have no incentive to continue working on Turtle HD, and I leave it to the community to carry on its legacy. The project is open source on GitHub, and can be forked by anyone as they see fit. Thank you to everyone whose kinds words and eagerness to contribute made this project far more than I had ever hoped it would be when I started. I'm glad that so many people enjoyed this little hobby project, and I hope that it continues to inspire others to get into WoW modding and video game modding in general.

I'm sorry to hear that, your project was very good and was the heart of Modding here since it started to the point of being pinned to the top of the mods area.

But since Turtle started with patch 1.15.0 it was obvious that at some point everything was going to lead to more changes to the game model to evolve it in a different way trying to maintain the original Vanilla skeleton.

Controversial changes, yes, but at the end of the day necessary to attract more people and solve obvious problems of the base game that Blizzard gave us in 2004.

I hope to see you here again someday when the project has advanced more, thanks for your hard work all these years.

Good luck.
