  • Stability and performance improvements have been made. However, we advise hardcore gamers to exercise caution as these may not necessarily be improvements.
  • Added one missing hair dye item for humans.
  • Fixed a typo in Kelly Vaulstone's gossip.
  • Fixed some items not playing their sounds in the player's inventory.
  • Fixed the wrong Black Hair Dye color for goblin males.
  • Reduced XP from killing Starving Bonepaw in Desolace.
  • Marked the quest Treant Muisek as Elite.
  • Marked the quest Army of the Black Dragon as Elite.
  • Added a second cooking fire to Caelan's Rest tavern.
  • Fixed Reindeer getting dismounted in water.
  • Fixed Ivory Tallstrider getting dismounted in water.
  • Fixed chest opening animations.
  • Attempted to fix character creation issues.
  • Feral Spirits will now always attack the same target as the Shaman and will partially scale with the Shaman's damage.
  • Syndicate Shadow Mages now use a different version of Curse of Thorns.
  • Changed the respawn time of all Expedition Officers to 5 minutes.
  • Reduced polearm training cost to 10 silver.
  • Added new gossip text for Thultash.
  • A-Me 01 will now actively attack nearby enemies during his escort quest.
  • The short scripted sequence that plays after turning in the quest Making Sense of It now plays when accepting the quest instead.
  • Fixed some DoT auras wrongly being affected by armor.
  • Opening some chests will now cause nearby mobs to aggro.

Which chests does this affect and why the change?

I'd assume all chests being guarded by mobs, and because this has always been retail behavior.

Pretty sure opening anything, even quest items, would trigger a threat pulse throughout the retail years.

Vmangos just never seemed to have that coded in.

… come again? The wording on this is just a little suspiciously vague. Maybe… clarify?
  • Attempted to fix character creation issues.
Confirmed. My "lost" character popped back in from the aether and I was able to properly delete them and free up the name. Hm. Wonder what would've happened if I'd had ten characters already? What a missed opportunity!
  • Reduced polearm training cost to 10 silver.
W… why? By the time players can learn it (Level 20), 1 Gold shouldn't be anything to them.
  • Opening some chests will now cause nearby mobs to aggro.
Well, it's a start~

Cheers, Turtle Team!

That is correct. In retail, opening a chest or quest item, banging on some ore, plucking some plants, and I think even skinning dead things would send out an "area of effect" of threat, causing things within… I'd say 10 meters… to try and maul you. MaNGOS mostly doesn't have this function by default. Not sure why.

Incorrect. On Turtle, the required level for weapon training was reduced from Level 10 to Level 5, and Polearm from 20 to 10. Further, there are rumors that Polearms may end up in the hands of another class soon...

You sure 'bout that, chief?

This is a screenshot from a Level 1 Warrior. Every skill is available from Level 1 onward with two exceptions – Polearms and One-Handed Swords (which is already known). I frequently use this on new characters when I want a specific weapon skill they don't start with. This has been the case since I first started on this server last year.

Also.
[…] and Polearm from 20 to 10.
I don't even see "Polearms" on that list, anymore. Woo Ping is the only Alliance Weapon Master that has it. Except, you know, he apparently doesn't, now? I can check on a Level 20 character, I suppose, but uh… it's normally there even from Level 1 but marked as "Unavailable", just like any learnable skill above one's level.
I checked on a Level 1 Paladin, too. No Polearms.

Boy, I wish I could edit my posts in this sub-forum.

I just checked on a Level 20 Hunter and Level 10 Warrior. Polearms does appear. If I had to guess, something got screwed up, somewhere, which makes the skill simply not appear rather than mark it as Unavailable. I've gone ahead and reported it as a bug.

Also, Polearms is a Level 5 skill, now. There's even two low-level Polearms weapons on this server, though I have no idea how available they are since the Database doesn't say. Still, interesting!

Happy about the polearm training cost. I never understood why polearm training should be so much more expensive than everything else. Would also like devs to look into whether it would make sense to add some passive spell hit to the destruction tree of warlocks. Why should warlocks be left in the cold, when mages, shadow priests, and balance druids enjoy an easier road?
