How to fix Bloodlust ?

Post by Rafale » Thu Sep 22, 2022 6:58 am

Bloodlust is badly designed right now :

- It costs too much mana for enh shamans which lack it
- You always need to give it to MT to secure threat at beginning of fight
- You can be a resto shaman and use it, which is absurd when we look at the talents in that tree

Solution :

Bloodlust (no mana cost, 3 min cd)
Increases melee, ranged, and spell casting speed by 20% for a party member within 20 yards. Lasts 20 sec.
This ability can only be used after scoring a melee critical strike. Each time you gain a melee critical strike, the cooldown of Bloodlust is reduced by 5 sec.

Benefits :
- Only real enhancement shamans will be able to use bloodlust. No resto shamans will have to get it.
- Reactive gameplay and blocks the "give to MT at pull".
- Real scaling for enhancements which will have to build their gear on crit (synergy with Flurry, elemental focus, elemental devastation)

Sounds interesting but seems a little strong, but maybe I'm right.

Make it 10%. Make it buff both the shaman and their target. Means you aren't missing out on the buff by donating it to someone like the tank.
further changes I'd like to see.
Make the LS buff talent in the early tree into a general elemental shield buff.
Make the "cast on someone else" talent, which while interesting is a bit of a drain on enhancement outside pre-pull/drink, into a "melee critical hits recharge shield charges by 1".
Add in a talent later on that links to both that procs the shield effect on crit at the same time with a short internal cooldown on LS to prevent triple crit WF getting an extra 700 damage from procs.
This allows melee DPS shamans a way to regenerate mana via water shield and melee crits.
It also allows tank shamans a bit of survivability via a high base crit (due to agi) through Earth Shield.
It also plays into crit stacking, which shamans benefit from alot as melee due to Flurry and WF, without breaking the class in terms of overall DPS due to the high costs of shaman abilities in general.
Would also like to see Stormstrike changed a bit. Its fine now in terms of mana cost but the debuff should be changed so it gives a flat 10% shock damage buff so shamans can use it to amp up frost shock in DPS roles and still use it as a tank. Currently it's nothing but an extra melee swing, which is fine, and I'm not even sure it can be used in raids without pushing buffs off, which doesn't help Shamans already anemic dps.

Doesn't solve the Restosham going for bloodlust. it even makes it worse cause resto sham heavily takes benefit from haste.

Good idea but maybe too OP ? This need to have a cd like 10 sec or maybe works when you use stormstrike ?

Makes stormstrike proc the shield effect + makes it buff your magic damage by 10% during 10 sec

With those changes, shield will be like a new ressource for enh shamans, crit building charges and stormstrike consuming it. Very interesting !
