Increased mob density and drop rate?

Hi all,

Just started and loving it here,

Leveling in elwyn forest, it seemed to me like there was additional mob quantity and also maybe increased items dropped per mob vs actual vanilla.

I could not see any info anywhere stating this is a feature of the server.

Is this the case or am I incorrect in my assumption?
