The Testudo (III) – Turtle wow’s weekly PvP bulletin

Three is the charm as they say, and our charming newspaper is here for the third time! (Sorry for the delay!) It seems that our servers PvE successes push PvP as well, incredible three boss progress we have achieved in the BWL was mirrored by high PvP activity in the last week. There are 4 new Marshals for the alliance, and Horde almost got their High Warlord by a fraction of the point. And looking in the next weeks we can expect strong competition, especially on the alliance side. And Testudo won't lag behind. We are stepping our game and bring you a unique interview with our GMs about all things PvP. Enjoy!

On all things PvP!
This week we have something truly special for you, as we have reached out to our GMs and asked them about the PvP on our server. How does our system work and what are the plans for the future?

Hello Torta and Xeron, thank you for talking to us today about the PvP on the Turtle Wow. Let us get straight to our questions! How is the PvP handled by you guys in general? Is this the area that one of you is more focused on or is it more of a shared responsibility?
Torta: Xerron and Pompa are mostly brainstorming this area, when it comes to adjusting and balancing PvP for a low-populated realm. They adjusted calculation, turned tabards into instant-queue items, etc. I personally have been workin’ only on Player’s Bounty Boards and City Protector’s systems.

Are we going to see a new Skirmish zone in the Hyjal region?

What were the main problems that you had to deal with concerning PvP? There sure was some drama in the past…
Torta: We tried to encourage an absolutely peaceful PvE community to do PvP by making ranking more accessible. It led us to open a few wintrading windows, like Arena Gurubashi Blood Tournament events, it failed and players ended up farming each other for ranks without real combat. We shut it down and never got back to it. PvP-competition should appear naturally and shouldn’t be forced by staff.

Ranking system in vanilla WoW is often a bit complicated to understand, yet, could you please describe how is Turtle WoW different from Classic WoW or other servers in this respect? Which values were tweaked and why?
Xerron: TW is different from classic in the way the server thinks there are 800 players, per faction, doing PvP each week. If we had the actual numbers of 35 or 40, nobody would fit in the 0.03% of the bracket.

Any plans for the future concerning PvP? There were some rumors about the arenas in the past...
Torta:There’s a vague possibility of having a Skirmish Zone, which in fact would work like Arenas but without benefits and titles. It’s planned to be hosted in the unused Azshara Crater location. The battle sessions would be quick, unlike normal BG games. Also, I'm going to change how Bounty Boards work and reintroduce them back in the game. Instead of hunting the most dishonorable person, players would have to kill the highest-ranked player of the opposite faction.

Alliance:Alliance high command enters the fray
Four new players on the Alliance side have reached the rank of the Marshal this week. Leyvar, Justice, Rikardo, and Faustus are now in command of the alliance forces with the first part of the Field Marshals set. Horde can expect a tougher fight as the HPs are climbing up as well as the damage output on the infamous Holy strike. If there was ever a time to prepare for countering paladins it is now. Oh and don’t worry about Faustus… Nobody should prepare to fight him. He is really harmless. Not even here.Starts casting fear…

Horde: Just burst her down god dammit!
Have you played against Kigi ? Because if you have, there is a golden rule of computer games “Get their hp below 0 faster than your HP drops below 0” that suddenly doesn’t work in your favor. This troll priest with tricks like Faerie dust and Shadow deflector is causing havoc in the WSG, anchoring horde team so its suddenly much harder to kill. The usual strategy would be to simply nuke the squishy healer down, but Kigi seems to be staying alive quite well. Fortunately, still low on gear, one can’t do everything at once. Instead of slowly whittling her shield away, just cc and focus other horde dps casters, they are squishy and she doesn’t have that much SP yet. (And we don’t want to see what happens when she does!)

Alliance:
Leyvar (Aprox 110k HP) - Protector of Stormwind
Faustus - Avenger of Gnomeregan
Justice
Vandarkholm
Rikardo

Sylaria as High Sentinel of Darnassus and Molaf as Thane of the Ironforge

There was a noticeable increase in PvP activity on the alliance side this week. Leyvar and Faustus both hitting 100k HP as the race for the third spot was on to the very last hours of the week. In the next week we can definitely expect even more queing as players will try to reach r13 and get their set together. It sure is possible for Leyvar and Justice!

Horde:
Edward - Deathlord of the Undercity
Kigi - Voodoo Boss of Sen'jin
Trepp

-UNKNOWN- as Chieftain of Thunderbluff and -UNKNOWN- as Overlord of Orgrimmar (!!!)

If there is one big story for the week on the horde side, it is Edward charge for the r14. Unfortunately, even with the outstanding performance he was left short 5% of the title. You’ll get it next week Ed don’t worry! The other news is the resurgence of Kigi, shooting high right from the bet and finally giving some proper shine to the wicked Troll title the Voodoo Boss of Sen'jin. Overall the horde PvP problems remain the same with less players and less queuing meaning less WSGs overall.

Would you like to contribute and write for us! Let us know here or ingame

This is really cool. Not because I happen to make a part of the list but the "recap" of this weeks BGs was spot on and made me laugh. STOP THE HEALING!!
