How long for account email?

Title says it, how long does it take to be emailed the confirmation/verification email?

The email for confirmation is almost instant.

There are known issue with hotmail and yahoo not working.

Is this email important for logging into the game and playing? I was able to make the account and get into the forums without issue.

Also, if it is required/important, what would be the workaround for it not working with hotmail?
