Infernals and some other demons are insanely big. Is it because of that patch?

Yes, it's because of the legion models.

Spotted UV mapping issues on high elves that use a custom green-eyed skin. These NPCs were spotted in Alah'Thalas.

Got it, thank u!
Hey NeyMey :D
I was checking the contents of patch A and I see that it does have the troll face texture implemented, but in-game it skips it. I changed the texture name and it looks really good!!! :D, would it be possible to add it in the next update please? :), it's already included in patch A, just stop skipping it :).

The Lupine Horrors in SFK which use the same model look the same as this, so it seems this issue with the model and not just specific NPC.

I found the source of all the crashing. its your water mod.

I removed a few files to make it closer to vanilla experience.

Removed updated login screen
Removed updated character page backgrounds
Removed extra load screens and reverted load bar to original colour
Replaced wolf with grey model as the shaman ghost wolf being brown looked shit

Removed water mod from Patch A and Patch B
Added other water mod as Patch W

Pretty sure the water mod needs to load after the other patch files and that could be why its causing game crashes, but idk i didn't like the included one and replaced it with a functional one that blends in a bit better with the games graphics and doesn't cause crashes.

Enjoy

Interesting, I have both patches installed and never had any crashes around water. In fact when I do occasionally crash, it's in Org by the bank when there's no water in sight. Or when I exit game, sometimes the error message pops up as the game is closing.

I discovered this issue a few years back when messing with water mods on warmane, was flying around ICC and was crashing in the same spot every time, was the water mod.

On Turtle wow i was crashing lots in ashenvale, near the beach, near a cave (that had no water), also when hearthstoning back to splintertree post, removed water mod out of patch files and it fixed it. Then used the water mod i was using previously instead.

Memory read error or something hey?

water mods are best loaded in after all the textures and models so i called it patch-w and haven't had any issues with this one yet

In most cases, crashes are not related to water, but to overloading the vanilla client with mods. In addition to the HD mod, people turn on all possible mods, Numpower, UnitXP, DXVK. Vanilla Twixes and Vanilla Fixes. I only use Vanilla Fixes and UnitXP and launch the game through the launcher. I have never had crashes in all the places you indicated.
Image
Also, do not use unitXP if you installed it manually from github and did not enable it in the launcher as a mod.

The water animation in that mod doesnt loop properly, I was going to replace it anyway when i stripped out the login screen and character select backgrounds.

It just happened to fix the crashes once the water mod was removed, it had files in both patch A and patch B.

In my experience with running water mods they work better when loaded after the models and textures thats why i have it as patch-W

The water mod I added looks somewhat like the "fair" setting from cataclysm.

Flown all around the bottom of Kalimdor and no crashes.

Thank you so much.

For all who are heaving issues with the Camera Height as well. I noticed that Druid Forms and Mounts set either to high or to low Camera with the HD Mods.
My workaround is the addon SuperMarcos + UnitXP_SP3. Both can be installed through the launcher.

Here my Macro for Druid Forms. This sets the CameraHeight higher when in a Form (so you can see your enemies) and rests back to default when pressed again. One issue is that when shifting from Cat into Travel form and den out of travel the camera stays at the set value of the Cat form. You can fix that by simply using the same macro and setting it for your other forms. But you'll lose some buttons on your ActionsBars.

Cat Form:
/script local active=0 for i=1,GetNumShapeshiftForms() do local _,_,a=GetShapeshiftFormInfo(i) if a then active=i break end end if active==3 then local eb=DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME.editBox eb:SetText("/unbuff Cat Form") ChatEdit_SendText(eb) UnitXP("cameraHeight", "set", 0.0); else CastShapeshiftForm(3); UnitXP("cameraHeight", "set", 0.5); end

Bear Form:
/script local active=0 for i=1,GetNumShapeshiftForms() do local _,_,a=GetShapeshiftFormInfo(i) if a then active=i break end end if active==1 then local eb=DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME.editBox eb:SetText("/unbuff Dire Bear Form") ChatEdit_SendText(eb) UnitXP("cameraHeight", "set", 0.0); else CastShapeshiftForm(1); UnitXP("cameraHeight", "set", 0.6); end

Mount - (this one was very tricky):
#Note: When mounted and casting a spell to dismount simply press the macro again and camera resets to 0.0
/script if not mountToggleState then mountToggleState = false end
/script if mountToggleState then CancelBuff("Striped Frostsaber"); mountToggleState = false; UnitXP("cameraVerticalDisplacement", "set", 0.0); else CastSpellByName("Striped Frostsaber"); mountToggleState = true; UnitXP("cameraVerticalDisplacement", "set", -1.0); end

I hope this prevents a few dungeon wipes ;)
If someone has a better idea pleas let me/us know.

Thanks man! I tried this out, removed water patch from both A & B and also made sure the custom patches are loaded in correct order.
So far no crashes at all. Even did 3 raids last night and not a single issue or crash occured.

Just to be sure, I also took the routes that would normally crash the game prior to trying out this fix.

Mind you I stopped using this Patch A & B due to regular crashes a while back as it wasnt really playable for me.

Works flawless so far!

I'd like to make a suggestion that I'm not sure is possible. Could Cairne Bloodhoof model from Shadowland be included? It looked more imposing, similar to Baine's with the feathered crown.

Is it possible to make a request to update the Shaman spell effects to their Legion visuals? Or at the very least, updating Chain Heal so that its cast spell effect is nature instead of holy. Here's a video example. Thank you as always!

Hello! I have some news about Patch-A

LAST UPDATED 11/05/2025

- Many fixes related to textures and sizes. Infernals, Pterrordaxes and DF Furbolgs should have correct sizes now.
- Worgen Casters received a new HD model similar to the custom HD one.
- Tons of new models: All dragonkin have received new models. Dragonspawn, Drakonids, Drakes, Dragons, Whelps. Thanks to Atraxian over at wowmodding.net for his models. Other new models include Yeti, Obsidian Destroyers, Gorillas, Lashers and more. Go check King Mukla in Jaguero Isle!
- Wildhammer Gryphon and Armored version have new models.

About Darkshore update: Unfortunately a power blackout corrupted my mpq while I was working on it, so I had to use an old backup. All of my buildings and custom doodads are ok, but I have to patch them in, change old files, and retroport some assets that I didn't save the first time. It's still coming, but it's gonna take a while.

I've encountered no crashes so far with this version. No guarantees, but I believe it's way more stable.

We're probably change our distribution method for the patch. No ETA, just letting you know. It's gonna be easier to keep up with the updates.

This is in my to-do list. It's coming. Baine has his new model now!

Thanks for all the feedback. Keep it coming! We're slowly fixing everything you guys report.

Does this new update remove the water textures from patch A like was mentioned above or would I still have to do that manually (as well as patch B)?

You will need to remove the water patch with this new one. I just checked & it includes the textures.

Update from my last post. I also did a complete AQ40 & Naxx + some dungeon runs. Didn't have a single crash so far.

Ever since I removed water patches from A & B, not a SINGLE crash has occured. I advise you all to do the same if you encounter random crashed in Zones or instanced content.

Thanks for this patch, so far I've had 0 crashes despite trying to stick near water / slime / lava, very nice improvement indeed!

Would it be possible to list the files you removed from the MPQ to achieve each of the extra items above (reverted login screen, char backgrounds etc) as when new Patch As get released by the author, I'm sure they'll inlcude these things and I would like to remove them. Maybe the new mod Authors can add these things into a patch C, for those that want the HD in game world experience but also want to retain the nostalgic login screens, loading bars etc etc

I have also noticed this, thankfully this bug is easily seen since it's a pretty common mount to see in the cities.

Edit: Same for Thalassian Unicorn:
