Greetings!

We welcome everyone to visit the Grand Opening of Mirage Raceway on November 1st!

What’s it about (some official information):
The Mirage Raceway was a race track, deep within the dry lake bed known as the Shimmering Flats. After the end of the Third War, both the goblins and gnomes decided that the large alkali desert known as the Shimmering Flats near Thousand Needles would be a perfect place to test their new rocket designs. The natural animosity between the two engineering teams created the perfect opportunity for races to see once and for all whether Goblin Engineering or Gnome Engineering was superior.

However, Mirage Raceway was never fully implemented as a gameplay event. On the official Blizzard servers you can see gnome and goblin cars racing, but they’re driven by NPCs.

What’s new:

Now, on Turtle WoW, it’s possible to participate to the real race! Grab these car keys, find an opponent from your or the opposite faction and floor the gas pedal!

Features:
  • Complete repeatable quests and get rewards, maybe even a mount!
  • Get your driving licence and drive a single race against time.
  • Queue for the competition on the main racetrack and win over your friends!
  • Stun, Blink, Speed Boosters, Cloaking... and of course, Seat Belts!
  • Hot Pants are still present.
  • Definitely Non-explosive Sheeps (who got this stupid idea to put’em on the racetrack!?)

Find Fara Boltbreaker in Stormwind or Orgrimmar and speak to this sneaky journalist to know what’s going on.

Great thanks to Sinrek for writing amazing authentic quest chain.

Just out of curiosity, since this is posted as 'Sands of Time', did Blizz ever say that they had meant to do this? I feel like I'd have heard about that.

I can't recall them saying anything about it, but we've found a number of unused spells related to the raceway in the client files. There're also items, which exist but never appeared to be in game: Gnome/Goblin Prize Boxes and Car Keys.

Thus, we assumed, it was initially planed as a player controlled raceway.

Thanks everyone for coming for the opening day.
Please share your feedback and opinions with us so we can make final improvements to the raceway.

Great event, the race is a lotta fun! Only problem I have is the quest for Daisy. The fact you need to complete the race THEN turn in the quest, in the time limit, makes it near impossible to do; given for some reason the speed boosts sometimes don't appear. Other than that, fantastic event!

The race is pretty good as a whole, the timing issue was addressed (at least it feels like it, im getting 10 seconds extra after finishing when i was getting like 5 before), the only issues i see are that the stun works like a normal spell, as in low level players will almost always miss against high level players, and that sometimes the bootsters are there but dont do anything, but besides that everything works great (except the S.W.A.G Goggles, give them an inventory sprite i feel like the Riddler)

i just think the sheep should have a faster despawn timer, as i noticed new sheep spawn when any race begins, if you run 3 or 4 times in a row they start piling up, especially when many players run at the same time
