Beta Conclusion & Final Rates

Greetings, Tortollans!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated our beta! You helped us to discover and close issues like:
  • Transport movement issues
  • Pathfinding problems
  • A large amount of minor quest bugs
  • Escort quest waypoint fixes
  • Correction of invalid item sell prices
  • Adjustment of XP rates

You will be hopefully satisfied with the results which we achieved together!

We came to the conclusion that the beta rates were exactly what we were looking for. Players were motivated to do quests to gain a bigger amount of experience.

The final rates will be the following:
  • Quest rates: x1
  • Creature kill rates: x0.5
  • Rested XP bonus: x0.5

Further Achievements:
  • 1-9 PvP brackets are simply hilarious as we expected them to be! We can't wait for the first lvl9 BiS gear guides on our forums!
  • We received a lot of applications and are currently reviewing those, our family is growing!

Very content with the final rates. Can't wait to try out the lvl 9 WSG as I missed it on the beta.

Good luck with the server. Im gonna pass with . 5 rates. It's just gonna have ro much mob grinding for my taste.

0.5x XP, urgh! That's gonna be a lot of grinding... I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but you'll have trouble sustaining a decent population if you keep it that way.

I actually think that its gonna be quite opposite. Leveling and community is main drive in vanilla.
I'm glad there is no words about cancer like xfaction chat...

Since some quests really strain farming certain mobs for the lowest drop rates in the game, it wasn't novel for me to gain a level just by farming them. So the new mob exp rates should prove good.

Besides, I don't see the point of people arguing the grind is going to be horrible. You've so many zones to quest through, you shouldn't once grind any mobs if it isn't for: A.) Quest drops B.) Leveling crafting C.) Certain drops - the quests get you through the levels easily.

That's true up to level ~30. From there on I was usually grinding mobs every couple levels even with XP rates at 1.
I don't really mind that much, I'm no stranger to grinding, but I'm pretty sure it'll have an effect on the population after a while. During the first weeks there won't be big issues, people are leveling together. It's when the majority of the population is playing the "endgame" that new people will get bored with the grind. In that case the server has to eventually up the rates or die of starvation.

People tend to wear rose-tinted glasses when it comes to the "vanilla leveling experience", just like when they talk about the grand "open world PvP".

I would disagree with you regarding the grind - I've succeeded in completing all quests on both continents which saved me the grind but you've given me a rather disturbing thought.

Leveling to 60 in vanilla, by doing all the quests, is possible. That's if you count rested exp and the normal exp from mobs, which you bag along doing the quests. And even then, it's really hair thin. I wonder how is it going to be here, since we've half the exp from mobs and rested gives only half exp bonus. That's starting to sound disturbing, but there's no one who has reached 60 with these exps yet to prove us wrong or right.
