Sands of Time #01

I have been using my shell to travel through the Sands of Time and I ended up in another timeline where Rogues were able to learn a skill called Disguise, which allowed them to carefully disguise themselves as other humanoids.

With my -almost- unlimited power, I have brought to our timeline this spell and some characters that will teach you how to use it.

Disguise

Starting at level 2, all rogues will be able to talk to their trainers located in the starter zones to get a quest that will lead them to learn the new skill of Disguise.

Image

They will need to learn all of the available disguises from other characters located all around Azeroth. But don't think it will be easy, after learning how to disguise as someone, they will need to gather the appropriate materials to do so.

These disguises are fragile, and any hostile action will reveal your identity.

Note: This skill is not custom (the way to obtain it, is), I have been doing a lot of research to bring back to life discarded / unused mechanics from early days of the game. More to come!

Will Taurens get their Plainsrunning ability? Paladins original Crusader Strike (debuff for holy spell damage, had an animation of a special attack like Seal of Command procc) and Schools of Magic usage skills too?? :D

I'd add them more portals and teleports for locations as well, but they're OP as they already are.

Well, in terms of graphical design and quests mechanics it's not even beta anymore therefore I'm kinda a bit curious of how would these changes play out. wary_turtle_head

Cool feature!

But what's the practical purpose behind the skill in terms of pve or pvp? Or is it just cosmetic?

I think it should serve a practical purpose. For instance, certain quests require you to collect items found in camps or groups of mobs. This makes certain quests fairly difficult to perform solo for rogues in contrast to other classes. Disguises could be used to give those quests an alternative route.

I'd add some quests requiring rogues to decieve a mini-boss with some bring the message quest in each area.

New class quests for rogues would be cool.

Such a gem buried in the very deeps of the forum. Up.

How long does 'Disguise' last? It never says how long it lasts and I encountered that I can't run from the teacher to the lifts in Undercity without loosing my disguise.

It has no duration. It will last until you cancel it or enter combat / receive damage.

Cancel at the friendly NPC interaction though. What a waste.

Do disguises fool hostel NPCs? For example, if I have a Defias disguise, will it enable me to walk around in their territory without getting attacked? And if the answer is yes, could disguising myself as a character from the opposing faction fool guards from the opposing faction?

One other thing that I didn't think to ask. Would gathering break the disguise? That includs gathering quest items and gathering crafting materials.

Would it be possible to tie these disguises to making NPCs non-hostile, perhaps based on rogue stealth? The closer you are to an NPC, the more likely it is to discover an inconsistency- but, on the flip side of the coin, a conniving rogue would be able to get to places hidden in plain sight just as much as actually hiding.

I also think it would be a great addition for these costumes to fool the NPCs you're disguised as. However, in order to not make this exploitable or too big of an advantage for Rogues, I think this feature should also take in consideration your level, so say you walk into a Trogg camp with level 30 Troggs, and you're only level 20, even if you're disguised they should still attack you.
