Pricing

How about placing a pricing standard to all items sold on the AH in a way that keeps the overall prices of items in a way standard. Like a variation within a certain amount. The idea being that prices dont rocket out of proportion. An example being something as simple as a shirt or alchemy recipe. The idea that no item, of any kind can be over-priced, beyond a certain amount or percentage. I know that this idea is new, and in many ways abstract and seemingly impossible but, if such a thing was implemented (provided it could be). The AH's of all servers would benefit from such impositions.

I dont know im just a guy that likes WoW and thinks that maybe people setting a price of 100g for a fishing rod is a bit much or that maybe people should be following simple standards for selling such as if a bag (10slot) sells for 80silver (vendor) it shouldn't be sold for more that 1g, and the like. Just a thought cause as things are market prices are horrible and only get worse the longer any given server exists

So basically... Warcraft-socialism? No thank you :). The free market works. Supply and demand. If people overprice their stuff it won't get sold. This is a non-issue.

I also don't believe in "goverment" controlled pricing; as long as the market "behave". Which it unfortunately do not. In other words free market doesn't work either. In the real world though, the free market is controlled by other means than pricing, eg. profit expectations, interest rates, taxes, etc. Acctually has supply and demand very little to do with pricing. In the real world there is also somekind of limit what price you can ask for gods and services. If you are totally unrealistic you can be charged having done a fraud.

In WoW (and on Turtle) again, I also don't see any need of price controlled AH, even if we don't pay tax ... yet. And, putting eg. 1g price limit for an item that vendors for 80s, would only mean it's not worth stepping to the AH selling it there. IF there would be a limit, it should be like 10x vendor price. I personally normally use a simple rule: 3x vendor price.

But, maybe UNDERPRICING could be illegal on AH! Too low prices also give the wrong idea to some buyers. "1g for some dust? You crazy evil person! F you!". When the buyer don't at all take in account how much the disenchanted items would have vendored for. Well, I don't want to implement underpricing stop, but just wanted to point out also this in the discussion.

If its too expensive...just don`t buy it. You usually see it cheaper some time later. Or ty and contact the seller, always helped in my case.

If it`s too cheap... better safe your stuff for later when the price went back to "normal".

There are some patterns (and possibly other items) that are way overpriced since they belong to the Molten Core Salvage Ops. It is just there for display and guild members can get them for free. I haven't seen other items that are overpriced, I find items more commonly underpriced. All items except bags are fairly hard to sell.
