Blacksmiths should be able to Repair

Post by Pauly » Thu Sep 22, 2022 5:28 am

Hey I thought it'd be a cool idea if Blacksmiths were able to repair their own Gear.

Would add a little more depth to the profession.

Could use Bronze, Iron , Steel etc with leather to repair gear.

I love this idea. but seperate it for armro type for the 3 armor crafting types plate+mail for BS, Mail and leather for LW, cloth for tailors.

this gives each profession a repair instead of just one.

engineers can repair just their crafted stuff?

What would happen to the current vendor repair? As it is right now, it will completely kill off player repair if it existed.

Yeah, it would make zero sense to waste materials when it would probably be cheaper to just click one button and have all your gear repaired.

However, I think paying with time would be an interesting concept. Let me explain.
Blacksmiths for example would have a repair skill that would target mail or plate items (also weapons if they are Weaponsmiths? Armorsmiths might cut the cast time in half). It won't cost anything to use (except an anvil maybe), but it would have to be recast on every individual piece you want to repair, and it would have a 30-60 sec cast time. This would make sense to repair at vendors if you're in a hurry, or manually if you want to save a few gold and have nothing better to do. This will also allow crafters to repair other people's gear through the trade window.

Maybe we could add crafting stations for LW and Tailoring, so they won't be able to repair just about anywhere - I propose tanning rack and loom respectively. These would have to be distributed throughout the world next to trainers and vendors though.

I don't think a ton of people would use the feature, but will certainly be nice to have and would be most useful for lategame raiders (whose repair bills are insane) and roleplayers (socialising through "ey, can you repair meh breastplate, lad?" 😄) The long cast times would certainly help with the latter.

blacksmith is currently the most useless profession in the game. anything good craftable is all BOE so only a handful of players have to take the fall with managing this prof, while everyone else can go engi, gathering, or even another prof with an xmute. BS has no xmute, no amazing BOPs, no nothing.

Giving BS even half price on just self-repairs on mail+plate would instantly make it a super desirable profession for tanks and plate wearers, without being a hard-line requirement that people would be severely punished for missing out on. big +1 for this

Yeah I thought it would be a good idea.

Adds depth to the game.

Would be a perk of being a blacksmith, a more sandboxy element.

An excellent idea. I could see it working when trading with others by putting an item in the “do not trade” box, even if it therefore takes some time to repair all items of others.

If technically possible at all. yeah it would be cool, people would be asking their buddies for half the price in a tip instead. very based moneymaker that continues making money. Would also nerf the need for the cash shop rep bot, and anything that nerfs donation player power/convenience is a win in my book

As as other Professions can too.

Blacksmiths can repair Mail and Plate Armors.
Leatherworkers can repair Mail and Leather Armors.
Tailors can repair Cloth Armors.
