Resto tank shaman.

To address the role of shamans as a possible tank and to suggest a possible fix to is lack of taunt and damage mit.

At present if i am correct in the observation that shaman who play resto do not use resto tree save for enough points to get totem mastery, then we could use the rest of teh resto tree to solve the issues that hinder the class from filling that role and may help us provide afun alternate tank class to help the tank population.

proposed solution-
Add Threat generation to healing spells from resto tree.

healing stream totem with mastery talent blankets the battlefeild with healing for all in it, each tick of 2 seconds would then generate significant theat ( i have no raid experience so please tell me if this works or not) May just enable the shaman to regain threat if teh boss wipe threat during battle as many do, as well as do a simular task of aoe threat gen like a pally conso.

Healing yourself as the tank would also add high threat to all in the area letting them aoe tank without doing damage to the enemy at all unlike all other forms of tanking. this is original to say the least. natures swiftness talent giving you a instant cast heal that could be powerful enough to be a taunt.

I was told the turtle guys here tried to have enhancement have a hp regen in combat talent? put that in resto and that healing can mit damage instead of the standard block/dodge/parry that the shaman doesnt obtain the same amount of as a warrior or the shear dodge of a druid tank.

in summery, give threat to shamans healing, they gain aoe threat gen and if added, hp regen can counter lack of mit, natures swiftness instant heal possible taunt alternate. cons of having a healing tank is going to be even less damage output from tank making their fights longer.

Please leave a comment on what would or wouldnt work if you have the experience raiding.

Addition- Ancestral healing Buff from heal crits grant 25% bonus armor used as mit CD with instant cast heal.
talent points allow for enough points to take puficaton in resto and spirit shield in enhancement. with a point spread of 18-33 respectivly. this is tight so any threat gen talents added would have to be in the reduction of points needed in a 5 point talent to 3 with the same gains and the remaing 2 points used to give the threat from healing and totems.

any input would be nice ty.
