These two had one of the best dps since their speed is very high, 1.0 for Broken Tooth - physical however. Lupos had his damage as Shadow School for some reason. Was fixed with patch 1.9 though.

This tbh. 1.12 style vanilla with no shadow damage on Lupos means you can get away with any one pet out of four or so pet families if you want max DPS and/or raid util - cats, bats, owls and wind serpents all do great damage, and bats/owls have the option of bringing an attack power debuff should your raid need it.

It's bad enough in WotLK where you're griefing yourself if you DPS with any family that's not a wolf. If Lupos is changed to deal shadow damage, Lupos is the singular viable raid pet, full stop.

Yes. Shadow damage as well as resistances on some other pets were bugs that blizzard fixed in 1.9 making all pets different only by attack speed.

While Lupos have shadow damage - you aren't need anything other as well coz he is the best and others are much much worse in any aspect of the game. Add here a 20+ people waiting days in Duskwood to pet him - it's as fun as node camping but you are camping him for days without getting anything until you will be lucky to pet him. And ofc there is no point getting hunter without Lupos in raid coz Lupos itself do 200-300 dps so No Lupos = No raid.

Exactly. On other private server with big pop Lupos was dealing shadow damage. It ended up with what you described. Many hunters were looking at his spawn for hours. There was also RMT involved - some sites offered Lupos taming for money xD. Implementing this would be stupid.
