If shaman tanks are to be a thing, their 3 main hurdles are:
- No Taunt
No gear itemization
Mana management
A few Ideas:
1. Give shamans and paladins a dang taunt, idc how lol
2. Instead of adding a bunch of mail gear with tank stats, a deep enhancement talent that converts a percentage of int into def (50%?)
3. Toughness talent increased from 2/4/6/8/10 to 10/15/20/25/30% increased armor, and move down a few tiers in enhancment
4. % of mana on block added to shield specialization talent (like pallies get)
Suggestions to fulfill those requirements:
Abilities:
Primordial Fury, increases threat generated by frost, fire, and nature spells by 60%. (shaman version of Righteous Fury)
Jeer: 10 second cooldown, 5% base mana cost, baseline level 12 shaman ability.
Taunts the target to attack the shaman and deals X nature damage if the target is not targeting the shaman. Has no effect for targets already attacking the shaman.
Talents:
Call of the Earth Warden: Grants the shaman additional armor equal to 17/35/50 of your intellect and defensive rating equal to 5/10/15% of your attack power, and an additional 2/4/6% chance to parry an attack. (with the upcoming change to shamans it looks like parry is baseline.)
Shield Specialization, modified: also regenerates mana equal to 1/2/3/4/5% of your total mana each time you block.
Herald of Thunder: Requires Stormstrike, 2 ranks (or 3 if needed)
Using Stormstrike while holding a shield grants you 3/6(or 2/4/6) charges of Lightning Shield (up to a maximum of 9 charges.) while your Lightning Shield ability is active. Additionally, While your Lightning Shield is active your block chance is increased by 20% and the damage from your Lightning Shield procs are also dealt to 2 nearby enemies.
