Alternatives to Warmode For Bonus EXP

There's somewhat of an upheaval I've noticed in the community, particularly from those who don't use Warmode. And while I won't delve too deeply into their arguments, I believe I have a solution that may make that part of the playerbase equally satisfied.

What if we had more Glyphs that provided bonus EXP? Of course you'd only be able to be ONE of these types of Glyphs. Each would either cater to a particular kind of play style.

Glyph of the Gatherer - You only get half EXP from mobs, but get equivalent to several monster kills worth of EXP from gathering nodes.
Glyph of the Reckless - Your durability degrades twice as quickly, even from death. But Bonus EXP.
Glyph of the Wanderer - You get reduced EXP from Quests, but get EXP equivalent to a few finished quests from discovering new areas.
Glyph of the Loremaster - Your quest log is reduced by 5, but you get more EXP from quests.
Glyph of the Cursed - You get Bonus EXP from all sources, but every death gives you Resurrection Sickness (and it lasts longer.)
Glyph of Friendship - You get half EXP while alone and 1.5 EXP while in a party.

Ect, ect, ect. I'm sure we can all come up with our own examples. But the point is, I believe having alternatives will really open up avenues for ALL players, and finally put an end to the ongoing vitriol against Warmoders.

I think such a wide range of choices could only work with glyphs being mutually exclusive.
Otherwise it could result in a min-maxing frenzy that would harm the very goal of those glyphs (that is to favour immersion) while also bringing A LOT of confusion.
Perhaps a system of rewards and achievements for gathering, exploring, and so on could be a more linear solution.

I did clarify you'd only get your choice of one. That being said, all different avenues being rewarding in some way is also ideal.

Alright, let me explain the problem.
I would like to go into details, but I dont want to rant. Thing is, none of those glyphs have any danger to them, they Just reward. The pvp glyph atleast makes u suffer for the extra exp.

Let me explain, snapping Exp buffs to everything may be a bad idea. I do support the idea for multiple glyphs.

Like the gathere could give extra skillpoints for Nodes, but reduced exp in return. If nodes would give exp, many ppl would just open multiple acounts and alt-tab between them mining different Nodes.

I like the way that Glyphs are stackable and you can mix and match out your own playstile.

Keep in mind, those glyphs were just shower thoughts at the end of the day. I'm no developer and I am not mindful enough for balance either. They're broad stroke ideas to show it may be possible to equalize the playing field.

My fear, at the end of the day, is that people who do not use Warmode feel they are at a disadvantage. That is all.

Also I will say I do like the idea of a glyph of bonus skill points per node used. Though I do think EXP is also a valid option.

I appreciate all criticism on the matter. And I hope that in the future that there will be glyphs that provide benefit mixed with disadvantage to all play styles.

I'm sorry but this is an awful idea. PvP is healthy for the game. If you don't like PvP just don't take warmode. If you want the extra EXP, take warmode. Simple.

I actively use Warmode. I personally enjoy it, a lot. Though I see people complain about it often. I believe this may stem from the fact that it gives bonus EXP. I don't see how additional gamemodes where you're at some sort of penalty in exchange for bonus EXP would be unhealthy.

Warmode gives extra exp bcz you spend much more time dead and runing as the average pve player. A pve player can get to 60 without much danger if he is cautious. For a warmode player, enemies may Just appear and kill you, even camp your corpse untill they get bored.

I find that starkly untrue as a statistic. I barely die, because I'm barely attacked. I'm level 55 now and I've been attacked and killed in PVP literally twice. I really don't equate to anywhere near 30% of my leveling time.

Well, doesnt that show that the majority of the server are decent people and there is no reason to complain about pvp ? :)


I have the same experience, thats why I dont get all the complainig :(
