Loner glyph
Hi, I'd like to propose a glyph that might very well have been proposed before, in that case I'm sorry. The challenge is inspired by the speedruns of youtuber Tactics:
- No grouping
- No AH, mail or trade. Only bought, crafted, looted or quested items
- Death allowed, allowing death skipping
A variant could be hardcore with no death allowed, making the hardcore challenge significantly more challenging, as the challenge as it stands today is not so difficult with its pocket healers, optimized dungeon groups and traded potions.

Re: Loner glyph
I strongly against any challenges or glyphs which make singleplayer game out of MMO one.
Xudo - tauren warrior 19 Sergeant armory.
I don't raid and rank, so you can not bother asking.
Nerf high level enchants on low level gear
Add lvl requirement to bandages
Best and optimal gear for 10-19 twinks
Have fun not only at 60.

Re: Loner glyph
Not every conceivable way someone might want to play needs a glyph.
Glyphs should be used for challenges which need to impose mechanical limitations. (Aka Warmode & Slow and Steady) since those actually chage the rules of the game at every moment of gameplay.
A glyph to essentially play the game how most people play while lvling anyway is kinda pointless.
Also please stop it with the antisocial glyphs please. if someone truely wants to play in solitude in a busy world, they can.
But we dont need to reinforce that in a MMO

Re: Loner glyph
To add, a lot of the existing glyphs already accomplish this to a degree. HC players cannot group or trade or whatever with non hardcore players. When this challenge was less prominent it felt like loner mode. But true, you can play the game your own way glyph or not. Plus what is the merit of reaching 60 this way? At least there is permadeath with HC.Atreidon wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 10:25 am Not every conceivable way someone might want to play needs a glyph.

I usually play alone and ply my profession on my own anyway. Staying plugged into chat channels is no to foster a healthy mind. I have even done inventory challenges where you dont use AH. So yeah, just do it OP.
Re: Loner glyph
I'd actually just like a glyph that's exactly the same as hardcode (https://turtle-wow.org/hardcore-mode) EXCEPT:
- Remove the one death condition
- Disallow all trading (not just within 5 levels)
- Allow one to train all professions, but only allow two active professions at a time.
Basically I want a group playing experience but a solo economic experience. Indeed, as the only way you can interact with other players in an economic sense here is to group with them, group play would be encouraged, particularly with players of your level (as you can only group with players five levels within your level).
I think this would be a really great way to experience WoW. Going out and getting whatever you need with others in real gameplay instead of just impersonally grinding gold and buying stuff on the Auction House.
Working with others to get those recipes to finally make that pot/enchant you want, instead of again, just buying it on the Auction House.
I think this a great mode for a "endless" server like Turtle WoW, because it make the end game huge. There's so much more stuff to do if you have to get it all yourself. And it's Turtle WoW, there's no rush!

Re: Loner glyph
I’d really want to have a glyph like this. Imposing hard limitations on grouping or community engagement in an MMO is very desirable to certain groups of people. It can be a kind of flex to others, saying that you conquered this game completely solo, and here is definitive proof of that. Josh Strife Hayes made a video that explores this mentality:
Re: Loner glyph
With all due respect, why do you care to flex on and be admired by people you specifically don't want to interact with?
NOONE is stopping you from playing this game completely solo, But the game does not need to give you an incentive to doing so.

Re: Loner glyph
You can already do this. It's the HC challenge. If you're too afraid of the difficulty, then IDK what to tell you. There doesn't need to be another glyph. There are already many challenge glyphs to make the game harder. You can play solo the entire time if you like. Nothing is stopping anyone from doing that.Feinryel wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 1:28 am I’d really want to have a glyph like this. Re: Loner glyph
But you CAN group in Hardcore. That’s not the same thing. It’d be great to have a glyph where you HAVE to overcome every challenge solo, despite being tempted to otherwise. People can claim to level 1-60 completely alone, but it’s all just hearsay until there is a way to implement a hard limitation.Drubarrymooer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 2:13 pmYou can already do this. Besides, Hardcore doesn’t just scare casuals. Losing a hardcore run to a server disconnect can be scary enough to make a lot of players hesitant to attempt it.
Re: Loner glyph
It’s not as if I want to make every character a “solo run” character. I make characters for different purposes and different challenges. This would just be another one. I do like interacting with people, just not on every character.

Re: Loner glyph
I mean I CAN do heroine and meth ...I just don't. You have a choice. No need for a glyph to take that choice away.Feinryel wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 11:23 pmBut you CAN group in Hardcore. Re: Loner glyph
You know how in Hardcore Mode, there's a free title for your character that lets people know you're a "Hardcore Character?" What if there was a title that let's people know you're on a solo challenge? I don't know about you, but I get annoyed when someone walks up to me and asks for help on a quest, or asks to trade some gold, or asks if I want to join a guild. What if there was a way to immediately let people know that you cannot be grouped up with or traded with, and I don't have to risk sounding rude or something. I think that would be nice. :)Drubarrymooer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 11:31 pm I mean I CAN do heroine and meth ...I just don't. You have a choice. No need for a glyph to take that choice away.

I don't think that any title will stop people from asking you all this things.
