A suggestion that may help with faction balance

Post by Lexi » Sat Jan 09, 2021 4:21 pm

Every server in my opinion should strive to have faction balance regardless of if it is pvp or pve oriented. I think if we slightly increased the exp gain for horde characters, say 1.2 or 1.3 it would incentivize more players to roll horde without requiring any crazy or out there changes.

It's like rewarding women for giving birth to males in male deficit..

Your comparison makes no sense.

Then I'll explain it to you. You want to reward woman for giving birth to male. Those who will have male will get the benefit, those who don't will not. Just like those who play horde will and alliance won't. I don't think people chose faction based on experience rate, they are alliance or horde just like woman doesn't have control over gender of their child, you are male or female. You can of course mess with your sex but in the long run you affiliate with one faction. That's why rewarding them with xp won't produce more males.
This doesn't apply to those who don't affiliate with any faction, but people usually do.

Yeah this is a bit of a yikes.

More on topic: I agree. I am personally rolling a Horde and Alliance character, but I know Alliance dominate population-wise. A very small benefit would be a good way to make the factions more balanced.
On the other hand, there's a lot of crossfaction present here, and I know faction imbalance effects PvP queues, but maybe the option to queue as Horde on Alliance and vice versa would be better?

It makes perfect sense. This is artificial incentivization.

Fiddling with XP gains is out of the question. Please bring up another idea.

The incentive is more horde content plain and simple. Horde questing zones have big room for improvement. They are lacking in long intertwined storylines like the alliance's.

I guess the hordies just have to put their creativity to work and make some good stuff.

Free transfers ally to horde.

Anyways, it doesn't seem big of an issue, like it was mentioned raids, dungeons, and bg are cross-faction. So there is no real benefit of having balanced population. People just play their favorite theme and as it happens it seems to be alliance. Can't fix that.

Hey. Maybe adding more custom quests for Horde would spring some interest to try them on Horde side. Durotar for instance can get as much as Elwynn. And more for 30s, 40s levels.

Also Mulgore is a massive region that could use more quests.
And if goblins get more fleshed out in the future more interests may go to them.

I'm all ears, feel free to PM with your ideas or post in a separate thread.
